See You Soon

I reach the stairway the elevator has brought me to. I slowly walk up the stairs, taking it all in. Every step is a brief reminder that Shai is gone. They are also a brief reminder that I will be with her soon. I finally reach the end of the stairway and reach for the door. It is cold, and rusty. I begin to twist the knob and push. A strong cold breeze pushes me back inside sealing the door shut. Was this Shai? Was her spirit telling me something? I didn't mind it. I twisted the knob, and opened the door quickly, sealing it shut behind me. I then grab a lonesome pipe on the ground and smack the knob off, so no one could get out and stop me.
I begin to take more steps to the edge. One...two....three...four. I keep walking and walking with my eyes closed until I reach it. The edge of the roof. My portal of demise to Shailene. Another strong wind pushes my body down behind me onto the roof floor. No. No more distractions. No. I will jump. I will see Shai again. I will. I promise. "I'll see you soon",I whisper. I quickly stand up, and walk back to the edge wasting no time. My head still facing the ground, I see the edge, and the cars below me. Stores closing for the day. Street lights beginning to turn on. I look up and see the beautiful night sky in front of me. Colors of Amethyst clouds and a periwinkle sky shine bright I front of me, with beautiful metallic like stars illuminating the night. The moon is full, and soft. Not an eye sore, but the first thing to notice in the sky. The wind begins to calm down, and I feel my heart begin to beat calmer. My hands release from their clutch, and open wide. My arms involuntarily lift up. My eyes seal shut. I am ready. I take a step forward. Another one. This last step. That's all it takes to be with the one I love. I pick up my left foot and step of the roof.
