Chapter Five: A Magical Awakening

-

About three months had passed by since [Name] had their first interaction with Forrest, and despite it being almost ninety days, they still couldn't hold it together when they were around him. Well on the inside at least.

Externally, they were friendly and sociable, always eager to talk to Forrest. Internally they overthought everything they said and overanalyzed all of the main character's responses. The joy of being actual friends with their favorite fictional character meant the world to them, but [Name] was afraid they were too needy at times.

Thankfully, Forrest showed no signs of disliking all the attention. In fact he tried his best to reciprocate all of it! [Name] brought him some sweets? He'll try his best to make some homemade ones for them! [Name] came over again to watch him practice? He'll show them some cool tricks he learnt just for them!

It's said that in the Divinia books, Forrest was depleted of socialization in his teen years. But now with [Name] coming over almost every day, he probably had enough social interaction to last the rest of his life.

And of course - Myles was there as well.

The burgundy-haired male originally watched Forrest with suspicious eyes, observing each of his interactions with [Name]. If he ever tried something funny towards his master, Myles would cut him down in a flash.

But instead, all Myles witnessed were wholesome and fun interactions between the three of them. The jade-eyed male was humble, considerate, and warm. Before he knew it, Myles had softened up to Forrest and genuinely enjoyed spending time with him. He would often ask to have a duel together and although the jade-eyed male was initially hesitant, it became part of their routine now with [Name] watching on the sidelines.

[Name] smiled while watching their bromance unfold. They were nervous at first that Myles would never accept Forrest, but looks like they didn't have to worry with his main character powers and all.

Oh, and they also did more than just watch the two duel all the time! One day, [Name] asked the two to teach them some epic moves. If they were going to join Forrest's epic quest in the future, they wouldn't want to be a useless dead-weight. But Myles obviously sternly declined and even the brown-haired protagonist rejected [Name]'s request (for the first time ever). The two were afraid that [Name] would get hurt as the training knights underwent was far from easy.

But after ranting a whole list of reasons and flashing their best puppy eyes, the two gave in to [Name]'s requests.

"Haha~ I suppose [Name]'s right, don't you think Sir Myles? I know the Ariti household are powerful wind wielders, but if [Name]'s magic ends up awakening years from now, they should learn how to defend themself in the meantime!" Forrest grinned. Myles sighed and looked down, scratching his head.

"You have a point. If something like the thief incident a while back happens again, Young Master would definitely step in to help even without me alongside them." His lilac-eyes met [Name]'s e/c ones. "I try my best to stay besides them at all times but" He paused. "...Young Master makes that difficult at times..."

They laughed sheepishly. Hah, looks like Myles still remembered them sneaking away to the woods as it was yesterday. Mans sure had a good memory for stuff like this...

"Sorry but my sense of curiosity needs to fulfilled y'know~?" They grinned. "Soooo, are you guys gonna teach me some cool-ass moves now???" Myles frowned at their language but Forrest returned a smile.

"We can teach you some basic self-defense moves! But swordsmanship takes a lot of strength and practice to perfect, so if you're really serious about learning how to fight, you would have to build up your stamina first." His eyes twinkled at them. "...Are you up for the challenge, [Name]?"
