. "Can you believe him?" Jack scoffs, changing out of his orange jumpsuit. Harley remains in hers, pulling on her skates. "The audacity!"

"Maybe he was fighting someone else? This city isn't the safest." Harleen hums, moving to help her partner with his tie. He sighs, eyes glossy.

"I know... I just..." He sighs, pouting, "I thought he'd drop whatever to fight me." He mopes, throwing himself onto the sofa once in his usual attire.

"Boo-boo, it's alright," Harley sits on the arm of the chair, voice soft and sweet. She combs a hand through his chartreuse-green hair, sighing softly as he melts into the chair, lips quivering, "He'll come around next time!"

"But what if there isn't a next time? You know how he is..." Joker curls into a tight ball, covering his face with his hands. "Last time things got a little... I don't know, romantic, he... he just took off, remember? I-I just thought he'd get back to his senses!" He hides under one of the sofa cushions, soft whimpers escaping his mouth as he leaves slight lipstick smudges on the couch's arm. Harleen moves to pull him into a gentle hug, rubbing his back softly as she pouts. She'd always known he loved this man, even before he had noticed himself. She thought it was adorable how he would ramble on about his enemy, the two were almost inseparable in his eyes, but almost as soon as Batman had caught these feelings, he'd fled; surrounding himself with nothing but darkness and the paining in his chest caused by loneliness. And still, he'd always wondered why he were so sad all the time. Never taking into consideration that, perhaps, his pain isn't only paused by his parents' passing, but also by his ignorance.

The woman admired their love for one another, but despised Batman for pushing it away as if it hadn't mattered to him as much as it did to her best friend. But even with this hate towards him, she always tried pushing this aside, and thinking of how happy her partner in crime would be with him. She'd only ever wanted him to be happy, she only hoped he would either be able to be with this Caped Crusader, or move on to someone who is more aware of their feelings, someone who would be able to return the love he gives. Knowing they'd finally admitted to one another brings her joy, but the fear of him abandoning Jack again because of this, it fills her with rage. But she conceals herself, for Joker of course. He needs her, and she knows she would have to think more of him than her own feelings, in this moment at least.

She strokes a hand on his cheek, humming softly. "Why don't we try robbing a bank tonight? Or tomorrow? See if he'd come?"

"Bugaboo, you're getting my hopes up and I don't really appreciate it all that much, but thank you." He sighs, frowning softly.

"I'm sure he was just a little busy, dear, he'll show this time, I promise!" Harley smiles assuredly, the man slowly smiling back in response as he observes her with teary eyes.

"You really think so?"

"I know so!" The clown pats his head and rises from her spot, "Now, I'll be on my way." She hums softly as she takes her handbag off from the coat rack, The Joker lifting himself up to watch her make her way to the front door.

"Where are you off to?" He queries, the clown's eyes raising slightly as a soft gasp leaves her.

"Hadn't I told you?" Jack slowly shakes his head after a moment of thought, I'd remember it if she had told me, right? He tilts his head slightly, the woman gliding along the creaky floor planks as she giggles.

"Sorry, puddin'! I probably was too lost in everything that I'd forgotten to tell my bestie!" She twirls around and hums softly to a song playing in her head between her words. "I'm heading out on a date for an hour or two."
