I gave them permission to record the interview. Why not? It was going to be recorded in some fashion, might as well make it easy on them. I took a breath as they set up the digital recorder; interlacing y fingers with Leo's. My heart was racing as I leaned further into Leo's embrace. He just held me tighter, closer; resting his chin on my shoulder while occasionally kissing my cheek and neck. Closing my eyes, I focused on his scent; the chocolate mintiness calming me a bit. Someone cleared their throat politely, causing me to open my eyes. Evin wound up speaking, his voice gentle, but coaxing,
"Whenever you're ready, you can begin telling us your experiences. Once you've finished, we'll ask some questions for clarification purposes. Do you understand?"
I nodded, and they returned the gesture. It took a while before I finally spoke. I started from the beginning. The day everything happened. How it started off so normal and ended in a sea of blood and gore. I had to stop when I had to speak of my mother and brother's death. My eyes stung as I looked away, trying to recompose myself. I was trying to focus, but all I could see was my brother's lifeless eyes; the pinkish-red flesh of my mother's shredded throat. The way they just tossed her body aside as they reached. I flinched and gasped as I heard Leo through our link,
Cyrus, baby. You're here with me, love. You're right here with me
I opened my eyes and looked around, the conference room coming back into sight; reminding me that what I saw were memories. Painful memories, but only memories. It was no longer my reality because I was here with Leo. I was in our pack. I was safe here. I nodded and squeezed his hand. In return, he kissed my cheek and rocked us a bit. Once I was calmer, I started talking about Ma-...Marren. I talked about the things he'd done. The way he and his lackeys had used my body and how Marren had trained me to be one of his tools. I did my best to recall as many assignments as possible and spoke about the people he'd interacted with. The various networking he'd been involved in. Once I'd finally finished, I felt slimy and somewhat out of breath, though I was breathing fine. I shivered and burrowed further into Leo's chest. He readjusted my sitting position so that he was cradling me as Iris pulled out a laptop and began to type rapidly. They gave me some time to calm down a bit before Iris spoke carefully,
"Are you ready to proceed, young Luna, Cyrus?"
I took a few deep breaths, playing with Leo's fingers for a bit before answering with a nod. Iris and Evin nodded and smiled gently and appreciatively. Iris typed a bit more before he looked towards me with a soft, but serious look,
"Now, the first thing I'd like to ask about are a few persons that Marren may be associated with."
I nodded,
"I'll do my best to help."
Evin spoke up then with a reassuring look,
"You're doing an incredible job already. And please don't push yourself. It's okay to split this up in any way that's comfortable with you."
I nodded appreciatively and forced the ghost of a weak smile,
"I'll be okay. We can keep going."
Both of them looked unconvinced, but they didn't fight me. Iris took a breath and looked towards me,
"For each of these people, I'll start by saying the name and if you can't recall anything, I'll show the most recent photo, we have of that person. If you recognize either, I'll proceed to ask for any details you have about them such as what they were involved in at the time you encountered them, any aliases you heard in regards to them at the time, and the like. Are you ready?"
