chapter 19

Marina POV

It's been a week since I last saw Ratliff. Everybody is still here because that was their last concert. And they feel that Riker needs to calm down a little bit. I was staying in my hotel room with Claudia watching tv when I was interrupted by a nock on the door. Claudia went to answer it and came back with Chris trailing behind her. She noticed the awkward pause and left the room to give us a minute.

"How are you?" He asked. I just replied with a smile. It was a fake one but he doesn't know me well enough that it is.

"Why are you being so distant from me? Is it because of Mags? Is it because I couldn't be with you on my birthday? What is it? I am dying here." He yelled trying to stay calm but it wasn't working.

"She gave me this note."

"A note? She gave you a stupid note and you are pushing away from your boyfriend because of it?" That made me angry so I stood up.

"It was a wake up call." I replied not raising my voice.

"What does it say?" He pressed.

"Does it matter to you? She wrote it to me not for you."

"Is it about that guy?" He yelled. I looked him in the eyes and noticed how watery they were. Getting where this is going he finally asked,

"Where does this leave us?"

RIker POV

I was sitting alone in the bus until there was a nock on the door. I dragged my feet to the door and opened it to see Marina. I thought she was going to walk away after seeing who it was but she didn't. Instead she opened up her arms as if she knew what I needed the most. I gave in. But when I did I easily started crying.

"I wanted to marry her." I said. Her hugs are really comforting.

"She loves you, Riker. Always will. She supports any of your decisions. Any of your life choices, she will be happy for you." I could tell she was going to cry also.

RATLIFF POV

I decided to check up on Riker. When i came in the bus I saw him sitting with Marina drinking tea and laughing.

"The only thing she would dare to eat that was not healthy were the fries." I heard her say.

"When we were on a date, I bought her french fries. She was caught up in the moment and she tripped over a bench. She wasn't complaining about how her whole body was scratched up and bleeding but the first thing that came out of her mouth was, 'MY FRIES!'" He laughed with Marina at the memory. When she laughed I wish I could record it because it's so wonderful. She looked up to me and it gave me butterflies. Riker glanced over and instantly got up leaving.

She got up but stayed her distance.

"So." Was all I could say.

"I broke up with Chris." She blurted.

"Why?"

"He isn't you."

I stared at her for a second.

"We are both single."

"Ratliff, I don't want to get hurt again."

"I would never want to hurt you."

She started to cry so I walked over to her and hugged her. Her arms snaked around my body and I felt my shoulder start to get wet because she's crying in it.

"I miss you, Marina. I miss being able to talk with you."

"I miss you too." She whispered.

"Marina?"

"Yeah?"

"Can we start over?"

Her arms tightened around me and my heart skipped a beat at her reply.

"It would be magical to go on a date with you."
