Chapter 3

Time skip 2 years (He's five now)

It's been two years since I got the ability to use aether and I've made huge progress when it comes to understanding the black runes. The runes themselves are a mutation in relmheart that came about from the influence of darkness, or decay as it's called in this world. The reason for the mutation, is because relmheart itself is the ability to control higher energy and although aether is strong, the pure decay energy that I give off is stronger. So as I progress with my ability to control decay the rune will change to suit me better.

I also learned that decay already existed in this world, the energy itself was just diluted with mana enough as to where it's just a new mana element instead of a higher energy. For instance pure decay can change normal mana beast into demons, but the diluted version will just give them a little upgrade with the side effect of making them go insane.

Currently my abilities are as follows:

I can use the creation, destruction, and death edicts of Vivum, however whenever I try to heal with anything other than decay I just end up killing whatever I'm trying to heal.

I can teleport anywhere within a kilometre instantly with Spatium but if I want to go farther than that I need to either use an artifact or activate relmheart.

I'm a yellow core when it comes to mana and I can use all the basic elements as well as all of the deviant magic of the three races. If I'm only going off mana then I'm about the level of a lower rank S class mana beast in my human form.

When it comes to my ability to use decay I can use all the basic mana decay arts as well as self healing. I also can enter shadows which lead to a place I dubbed the 'Reverse World' . It's a direct copy of our world but it has no life inhabiting it. (more on this in future chapters)

My influence of pure decay has gotten far better and I can now steal the life force from beings around me as well as give said life force to new beings.

My dragon form received a huge spike in power and it's about 100 meters long. I learned that I'm way more powerful in my dragon form than any other, but it's also way more taxing and I have to sleep more when I use it.

I also mastered how to use a scythe and even made big progress on swordsmanship. Why a Scythe you may be asking... It looks badass and it's fitting because I use shadow-like abilities and have the edict of death.

And finally I took up blacksmithing as a hobby and started to use both my creation edict and my pure decay energy to forge weapons as anything I got from dead adventures that wandered into my hellscape just broke after a few swings.

Back to reality

Currently I'm training on the outskirts of my domain, trying to find a way to conceal my horns.

My mom told me to conceal my horns but she never said how to-

My thoughts were cut off when I heard a scream.

Why do people keep coming here? I thought that the fact that no one that came here survived would be a good deterrent but I guess not...

I thought as I made my way over to where I heard the scream.

What the...

What I saw was a little girl about to be burned to death by a soul phoenix.

How did a little girl even get here? Anyway I better save her, I'm not heartless enough to just watch a blameless little girl die.

After finishing my internal monologue I blinked in front of the girl and extinguished the fire that was covering her. Her state could be described as grim at best.

Well at least I can test something.

I thought before using decay to steal all the energy from phoenix. Once I had it all I injected it into the girl while healing her body at the same time to make sure that she didn't just blow up. I hadn't tried to turn a human into a demon yet because not only are they very weak and mostly not worth the effort, but their bodies would just blow up from being unable to contain the energy. The only reason this might work is because I'm using the energy of a phoenix which is known for its vitality while also healing her.

After about five hours I was almost done injecting the energy, and realized that she was going to awaken her mana core when I finished.

Well here's the last stretch.

I thought as I put the last bit of the phoenix's energy into her.

"Boom"

Shit!

I thought as I was thrown back. Normally I wouldn't even budge from an explosion of that size but after using decay arts for five hours saying I was tired would be an understatement.

I'm just gonna take a nap here until she wakes up...

I thought as I fell asleep.

When I opened my eyes I saw two gray colored eyes looking back at me with evident curiosity.

"Umm, hello?"

I was confused at the situation, but the girl just sat there as her face remained stoic. I sat up and inspected her to see if anything was wrong. The girl herself had long white hair and gray colored eyes, I couldn't find any problems with her so I just asked.

"Can you tell me what your name is?"

She just continued to stare at me before saying.

"Varay."

I decided to change the name from darkness to decay.

Also he may seem overpowered but I'll balance it out in a way that it doesn't seem forced.
