Heading home and leaving another home

I had no idea that it would be so hard to leave them, it was so hard to leave with the boys, I had a tugging in my chest the entire time I was leaving. Every inch was so hard, I wanted to turn around but I knew that I couldn't, I had to go and report to the King. I hated the fact that I was going to have to leave Bella there, leave her in the middle of healing, and try to figure out where her stable ground is. I want to be her to know that I will be here for her... I want to be her stable ground.

I shouldn't be thinking like this, I am leaving and I am not sure when I will be coming back I cannot assume that I will or that she would even want that. Pull yourself together, you are the Royal guard for goodness sakes! what in the world has this woman done to me, I mean honestly, I was fine before I knew her... but I don't want to go back to the way I was before I knew her, I don't ever want to act as though I do not know her or that she hasn't changed the way I view things because she has. She has started me on a path I didn't even know existed until I met her, why would I go back?

Yo, Chris what is going on in that thick head of yours? Yeah, we have been on the road for an hour and we haven't heard a word out of you. Sorry guys I have just been thinking and stuck in my head, did you guys ask something? Nah, we were just talking about how it will be nice to go back and see Bells and Sue, every now and then, heck maybe the King will let us spend a while with them! Oh, yeah it would be great to go and see them, but remember guys we need to stay realistic, we may not ever be able to see them again but we can keep the things that she... they taught us and look at the world differently. Chris, were you thinking about Bells this entire time? No! I was just thinking about what exactly we are going to tell King Robert III because we were gone way longer than we were supposed to be.

Ah, well he will understand I mean we gathered a lot of info plus none of us have taken any days off since we started so it's not like we haven't earned some time to ourselves. I mean we wouldn't know the full depths of the attacks and we wouldn't know all the effects it has had or the fact that they are still happening so people are always entering Haven to start over. How would we know all of that if we had not spent time there, I mean do yall remember that family who literally was sleeping in Sue's barn before Sue found them and gave them a room in the house? Like really, heck even Bells acted as though it was normal for Sue to drag people in from the barn to stay in the house and eat their food. I mean Bells was obviously not super comfortable but it was a normal thing.

How could I forget she made me sleep in yalls room for a week before they found a place to live. and man you guys need to wash your armor because it stinks like death. I was breathing through my mouth and still thought I was going to die. *Chuckle* I wonder how often it happens like that, are the locals just so used to it now that they just bring random people into their homes so they don't sleep outside? Hmm, I wonder if we could convince the King to give some money and men to help build more homes so that it isn't as crazy with people sleeping in barns and others' homes as often? He might be willing to help them out, it would be really cool to go back and talk to Sue and Bella about where to build and how many buildings they would need.

After around another hour I am in better spirits, but the tugging in my chest is still there but it defiantly is not as noticeable anymore.  Sometimes when the wind blows I can smell her very specific sent in the air, vanilla with a hint of earthy smells from her being on the farm so often. It brought a small smile to my face as I realized that she will probably always be with me at least in that small way.  And she once again was on my mind luckily the boys started rambling about random things they would tell the King or the first thing they would eat when they got back, or things they wanted to have Bella and Sue try if they ever came to the capital. If they came to the capital I would be so excited, all the things I could show Bella, the places I would take her, and I would even introduce her to the King,  he would want to meet her, he is a good friend of mine after all.

Three days after leaving Haven we made it back to the capital, we went to our rooms washed up, and then met with the King. He was so excited to see us that he wasn't even phased by the fact that we were two weeks later than planned. He asked us about Haven and we told him all about the people, about the things we saw and experienced. When Bella and Sue were brought up I must have given something away because he looked at me straight in the eyes. we finished our group debriefs and after he asked me to stay and talk longer.

As soon as the boys were gone, he raised his eyebrow, all right Christopher what aren't you telling me? The people there have been through a lot your Highness they are all struggling to survive and yet they open their doors to complete strangers on a daily because the attacks are still happening, people go to Haven to hopefully be safe and start over but people are literally sleeping on the floor in random homes or in barns of strangers scared that someone will kick them out or that the gangs will find them.

Hmm, it is worse than we thought. Yes, Sir, the other thing is that there is a woman in Haven who has first-hand experience with them, she was captured and forced to live with them for years, she wants to fight back Sir. A Woman? This woman wouldn't happen to be Bella, would it? Yes, Sir, it is. I have an idea if you would like to hear it. I very much so would but first, tell me about Bella, and how she managed to catch the eye of my cold Royal guard who has never even looked at a woman in all the years I have known him.

What do you mean Sir? Don't give me that crap you know exactly what I mean. *Sigh* fine... but am I talking to the King or my friend? you are talking to Robert. Good, Bella isn't like most women Robert she is a fighter, she was tortured for years, and yet as a kid still managed to outsmart them and escape with the other kids. Wait kids? Yeah, she was like eleven years old when she escaped.  Dang, reminds me of a super-smart pain in the butt I knew as a kid. Haha, you are so funny. No, but really, I am happy for you, tell me more. For the next hour, I tell him all kinds of stuff about her, and about who she is.

Eventually, we get onto the topic of the idea that I had, and how we can help the people of Haven (and maybe give me a chance to see Bella again). He thought that it could potentially work but he would need to meet Bella first before he could do part of the plan but he is very down for the part where we send money and men to build more homes for the refugees as well as build some kind of defenses for them so hopefully, they can in fact stay safe (so she can be safe).
