A Plan in Motion

For the next week or so we were trying to figure out all the little details of how to get this plan into motion as well as come up with the perfect pitch to convince Bella to let us help her. After all, she is stubborn and she would be a hard sell but it is defiantly not impossible just improbable... I met with the King, Jackson, and James a lot, we were trying our best. Questions like what on earth were next, how would she react, how would we even get her here, went through my head all day it seemed. I soon realized I was not the only one who was worried about her, Jackson and James also were stressed about finding the best ways to keep them safe and help their city grow.

We eventually had what we thought was a full-proof plan, and now the only hard part was convincing Bella to come all the way to the capital for a few days. We thought about sending a "formal request" but decided that might not go well, so instead, the boys and I would go with a letter from the King asking her to come to the capital to hear a proposal as to how to help the people of the farm towns. We figured it probably would go better if we delivered it rather than a regular messenger, plus that meant we got to go see her. Once again we were off to Haven this time, with a skip in our step and a smile on our faces. Somehow it felt like we were going home, I was not the only one feeling that way, both Jackson and James expressed similar things.

It had been about a month since we were back in Haven, and I am convinced this time the trip there was so much faster, we did not doddle we wanted to be home. The King told us to take our time but not take too long, we needed to get all of this sorted out and his people protected before things got worse for them. We arrived in Haven in three days, it was in the late afternoon and we knew exactly where Bells would be. She was standing with more confidence, and she no longer covered every inch of her arms and neck. She did not see us but we saw her. I was not sure what had happened while we were gone but I was so excited to see her and to learn about her life this past month.

While she was talking to customers we snuck up behind her, "excuse me Ms. is there a place we can stay the night?" James asked right behind her head. She spun around and flipped him to the ground, when she realized who it was a huge smile appeared on her face, James! Hia Bells! Rude didn't even notice us, I am offended. Oh Jackson, how could I not notice you, and your big head, she chuckled. Haha give me a hug you butt, she gave both of the boys a hug, and then she came up to me. Hi Chris, it's really good to see you! She then gave me a huge hug. I held her for a moment, breathing her in and knowing she was safe, she is ok, she is real, and most importantly we were back.

I was back, we were back in Haven and I couldn't be happier to be home.  I am not sure when this became home but it is now.  Bella decided to go home early to surprise Sue, when we got to the house Sue was in her rocking chair, it was like nothing had changed yet everything had it seemed. Sue, stood up so fast I was scared she would fall because she seemed to be getting a little less stable on her feet. Bella was just as fast to her side to stabilize her. It seemed that since we have been gone she has gotten worse.

I could tell that Bella was getting exhausted, from all the extra work she is having to do. Convincing her to come to the Capital might be a lot harder than we thought. Maybe we can get her to come if we also bring Sue, maybe there is a Doctor in the capital that can help her get better. Either way, while we are here I am going to try and take some of the stress off her.

Jackson and James started talking to Sue, while I went and helped Bella make dinner for all of us. Bells how have you been? I'm good, ya know normal life out here. I grabbed her arm as she walked past me. Bells, please be honest with me, it's me Bells. *Sigh* I am tired, honestly Sue has been getting worse and I have had to take in all the hard labor on the farm and sell at the market but I can't be gone too long because I don't want her to fall or forget to eat or something. I... I'm not sure how much longer she is going to be around. I could see tears beginning to form in her eyes. She gets worse every day, some seem a little better but it doesn't last long before she goes downhill again.

Bells, I am going to ask you a very hard question, would you consider you and Sue coming to the capital for a little? We can get the best doctors for her and the King has a plan we have been helping him on to deal with the attacks and we really could use your help.  I don't know Chris, I mean it sounds great and all but, we can't afford that and I am not sure how well she will travel, but I will think about it ok? Thank you, Bella and you wouldn't need to worry about the price I... we care about you and it's the least we can do after all you have done for us.

I don't know if I could accept that Chris, I appreciate it though. We continued to talk and I was enjoying talking to her and catching up on life. I told her about my friendship with Robert, and I also talked to her about the invite from the King and asked her about how the farm has been doing. It has been doing well which is great to hear, I also asked her about the refugees and if there had been any new people coming into town lately because I wanted a rough number for the King on how many buildings to build.

Once dinner was made we served everyone and talked for around two hours before Sue became visibly tired, Bella took her upstairs and got her ready for bed, while the boys and I cleaned up after dinner. When Bella came back downstairs we talked more about how we were all doing and laughed, smiled, and honestly just felt like we were home again after a month away. After a few hours, James and Jackson went to bed, and Bella went and changed, she still was training despite the fact that she was exhausted. I also went and changed, but I was surprised when I walked into my room and it was clean but exactly how I left it a month ago.

I met her outside at her training spot, she had put on some muscle and her technique had gotten a lot better. She definitely gave me a run for my money, by the end of training we both were exhausted and on our way home she paused and gave me a big hug, we just stood there for a few minutes, honestly holding her and smelling the lilac scent that always followed her instantly made me relax. I was falling for this woman more and more, and she never ceases to amaze me and remind me that this is my life and I should actually remember to live it not just live through it.
