"Do problems one through fifty. I'll see you all on Monday, have a good weekend," Mr. Richards says as the final bell of the day rings, meaning school is out.
It's finally Friday which means I can go home, do some homework, and relax. Ever since my vow to stay focused on school I've done just that. Which honestly wasn't that hard considering the boy I was going gaga over is too wrapped up with his girlfriend or whatever she is to him.
"So what are you doing tonight?"Roxanne asks walking up with Beth to me.
"Homework. I want to get it all done before Saturday."
"Ooo So what are you going to wear?"
I send her a confused look as I reply, "Pajamas" I say, but it comes out as a question.
Roxanne gives me an incredulous look, "I was planning on wearing a dress, but if you feel you're at your best in pj's then..."
"What are you talking about?" I ask cutting her off.
Her and Beth both raise an eyebrow at me, "Graham's party. Duh." Roxanne replies.
I shake my head, I forgot all about that. I mean yeah I was invited, but I didn't plan on still going. Not after all this awkwardness. Well less awkwardness for the both of us and more of for me.
"You're going right?" Beth asks.
"Um no. Party's aren't really my thing."
"Then why'd you tell Graham you'd go?"
"Cause at the time I thought-" I stop mid sentence realizing what she's just said."How do you know I told Graham I'd go?"
She shakes her head as if I'm a child, "He's been talking about it all week."
I stand there shocked without a word to say in reply to that. Why? Why was he telling people that I said I go? I mean I know I said that I'd go, but I didn't expect him to tell everyone or at least Roxanne. I'm surprised he's been talking about me at all, but whatever I'm not going.
"Oh. Well I've changed my mind ," I say while making my way down the steps of the school building.
Roxanne and Beth are quick as they both jump in front of my way. I look to them both, but they have there sights set on something else.
"Graham!" Roxanne yells beckoning him over from inside the school doors.
He walks away from the conversation he's having with someone and I can't help, but feel like I'm about to get tattled on for something bad I did.
"Graham, Carina says she changed her mind about going to your party."
Graham turns towards me with wide eyes and a frown. "But you pinky swore," he says sticking out his bottom lip, pouting adorably. He looks so cute doing that I have to turn my head away to respond.
"I know, but-"
"You can't break pinky promises it's like a rule, Carina." he says grabbing my hand in his and like that my resolve let's go.
I nod my head and he seems to understand the meaning as he grins ear to ear. I let out a slight laugh at his happiness to a simple gesture.
"So you're going?" Roxanne asks smiling.
