3 Years Later.

I never went back home to visit. Each time my dad would ask me to come  back home for a visit I'd make up some excuse as to why I couldn't. I wasn't ready, I'm still not ready.

My grandparents want to travel around the world though. They said they're not getting any younger and they want to experience all life has to offer. I was shocked when they told me the news that I had to move back home to California. I didn't want to go back especially not my senior year of high school. Even though I hadn't made very many new friends at school, in fact I had only made one friend who moved away last year. I didn't want to go back.

I still haven't talked to Jessica or Charlie ever since I left home. But I honestly didn't try to get in contact with either of them. When I moved here I planned to forget all my problems from back home, but I see now that, that plan isn't going to happen.

Knock Knock

"Carina! Come on or you'll miss your flight!" my grandma yells from behind the bathroom door. I run my hands through my hair then let out a soft sigh.

You can do this Carina, everything will be fine

I open the door and greet my grandmother with a small smile and then look down at the floor. She looks at me with concerned eyes then grabs my chin lightly and makes me look at her.

"It'll be okay sweetie. You're strong, I know you can do this." she says with a smile and then hugs me. She's wrong, I'm not strong and I can't do this.

When we arrive at the airport my grandparents stay with me until my plane arrives. They make small talk with me and I give short replies. I don't mean to be rude I just don't feel like talking. I just want today to be over with.

It's time to board the plane and I start to get nervous. I turn towards my grandparents and nearly cry. I'm going to miss them so much.

My grandpa brings me in for a hug and my grandma joins in. She kisses my forehead and pushes some of my hair out my face. "We love you."

"I love you too." I say while trying to keep the tears at bay. "You guys be safe."

"We will, and don't you forget to call." my grandpa says to me.

"I won't." I say while I grab my bag and laptop. I start walking towards the flight attendant who's holding out her hand and smiling.

Despite my unhappy mood I smile and hand her my ticket. I look back one last time and I wave to my grandparents.

They wave back and then I'm off.

When I get off the plane I look around until I find a familiar face. My mother's face.

"Hello, Carina." she says.

"Hi, Mom" I say while her brown eyes stare into my blue ones. She looks me over and then nods her head slightly.

"Well we should get the luggage." she said while walking away. I didn't follow right away because I was busy looking for everyone else. My mom noticed I wasn't following and followed my eyes around the room.

She seemed to catch on to what I was doing and explained, "Your father had a meeting, and Sam is practicing for soccer tryouts. Oh and Jessica is at a friend's house" I just nodded my head and followed her.

I wasn't expecting Jessica to come and pick me but let alone be at home when I arrived, but I was expecting Sam  and my dad to be here.

We grab my bags and head to the car in silence. Me and my mom aren't  close so the silence we share isn't odd. Although it is a bit awkward.
