Chapter 38

Brynn's POV

I got up and went and sat by Quinn who hugged me

Quinn: you did great baby girl

Brynn: thanks

Mr. James: Santana we just heard Brynn tell us what had happened with you parents, is that all true

Santana: yes sir it is

Mr. James: When your dad came to the hotel what happened

Santana: he was beating me and Brynn came out and got inbetween us so he started beating her he hit her so hard that she had a collapsed lung and hand to have surgery

Mr. James: had you ever told anyone about what was going on with your dad

Santana: I had tried to tell our mom but she didn't seem to care and it seemed like he started hitting Brynn more after I told her

Mr. James: why do you say that

Santana: Brynn would always start to act diffent when he would hit her

Mr. James: what do you mean

Santana: she would space off or stare into space sometimes it would be like she wasn't even there

Mr. James: how would you know that he was hitting her

Santana: When he first started and I knew about it that's what she would do, but it got worse she would start having nightmares and not sleeping at night

Mr. James: I need to ask you this, do you and Brynn have the same parents

Santana: no, our mom's are sisters. Her biological father abused her and her mom so my mom and dad adopted her after social services took her from them

Mr. James: how old was she

Santana: she was 3

Mr. James: Santana had anything else happened with you, your dad or Brynn

Santana: yes

Mr. James: and what is that

Santana: could we have Brynn leave the room please

Judge of course

Miss Pillsbury stood up and took my hand and we walked out of the room and went and sat in the hallway

Brynn: she's telling them what else he did isn't she

Miss Pillsbury: yes sweetheart

Brynn: I thought so

We sat there for a little bit until Miss Pillsbury looked at me

Miss Pillsbury: so Nationals is coming up are you excited

Brynn: I haven't really thought about it, where's it at again

Miss Pillsbury: New York City

Brynn: I've always wanted to go but never thought I'd get there

Miss Pillsbury: well we will make sure you and Santana get to go

Brynn: thank you

Miss Pillsbury and I sat out there for a little while and soon Mr. Shue came out

Mr. Shue: okay Brynn you can go back in now

Brynn: thank you

Miss Pillsbury, Mr. Shue and I walked back in and I went and sat down next to Santana and Mr. James

Judge: Mr and Mrs Lopez please stand

both our mom and dad and their lawyer stood up

Judge: after everthing I have heard today I have made a decision as to what is going to happen, but first I want to say this both of you made a promise when you adopted Brynn that you would take care of her and treat her as your own you would protect her but you did the opposite you abused her and didn't keep her safe you two were supposed to show her what it was like to have parents that would love her. So now the two of you will spend the rest of your lives in jail. Santana Lopez if you are okay with it I am giving you full custody of Brynn

Santana: yes sir I'm more then okay with it for the past several months I have had her I've been worried about losing her, but she has taught me something

Judge: whats that

Santana: to not give up, I've watched this little girl go through so much and she keeps fighting no matter what is, I am who I am today because of her. She's the one who we has been keeping us positive. She's changed all of us

Judge: hows that

Quinn: your honor, Brynn has actually brought us all together we have become a family because of her

Judge: I can tell you guys will do well together

Santana: thank you

Judge: get them out of here

The police officer went over and took our mom and dad out, I turned and hugged Santana

Santana: we did it babygirl we won't have to worry about them again

We all went outside and started walking to the cars

Mr. Shuester: I was going to wait to tell you girls this but I think you both need this. We are all leaving next week for nationals in New York and I know things have been tight for you three, Quinn, Brynn and Santana so Mr. Figgins, Sue, Miss. Pillsbury and I have paid for all 3 of you to come with us to nationals

Santana: Mr. Shue

Sue: don't even say anything Santana

We all turned around and were surprised to see Sue

Santana: but we can't except that it's too much

Sue: now you listen to me Santana Lopez, You and I may not get along but this is one thing that you Quinn and Brynn will except. I have been watching you and Brynn for a while now and what the two of you have been through is enough for anyone to give up but you girls haven't. The odds have been against you for a while now but you have come out on top. Santana you have given up a lot to take care of your little sister. It's your senior year and you now have full custody of her. You, Quinn and Brynn will let us pay for the three of you to go

I didn't say anything I just walked over to Sue and hugged her and to my surprise she hugged me and kneeled down

Sue: Brynn, you are an amazing girl. You have been through a lot and you still continue to fight. I want you to know that if you ever need anything at all I want you to come to me okay

Brynn: thank you Sue

Sue: now I'll see all of you losers Sunday at the airport

with that Sue walked away

Mr. Shuester: you heard her we will see you on Sunday

Mr. Shue and Miss Pillsbury said goodbye to us and walked away I turned to Santana and she held her arms open for me and I walked over and hugged her

Santana: you did it baby girl

Brynn: no you did it San

Puck: well I'm going to head home and start packing I'll see you all later

Blaine: yeah I'm going to head home to I need to finish packing and making sure Mia is too

Santana: we will see you sunday

Quinn: come on girls we have some packing to do

We all got in the car and went home and started to pack
