(Two chapters in one day cause I had extra time this week)
First person on Lenas list was Alex. After all she lived with Kara; she should know everything about her.
"Alex I have a question for you"
"What is it because I won't share my self defense tips with you. I like being the most capeable person in a room." Four seconds and Lena was already regretting the idea."Uh, no. it's about Kara."
"Oh, can you tell her I'm going on a date with Maggie after school, so I won't be able to drive her home."
"I'm glad you wont be lonley but shut up will you!" Lena's sudden outburst seemed to render her into scilence even for a bit. "God, I could have asked and had my answer by now if you had just listened. Now, what does she do in her free time, you know, hobbies, and that?"
"I don't know I'm not her mother." No your just her sister, giving up Lena walked away, asking herself what the hell she was even thinking trying to get an answer out of Alex, she knew the sisters had some kind of fued going on. "Wait why do you want to know?, don't you find her annoying." Instead of answering Lena just throws a mischievous look over her shoulder. One that left Alex slightly worried that her sister will wake up tommorow and be missing all her shirts, or have bright pink hair.
Halfway through Monday Lena had descovered all but one thing about Kara. She had the patience and tolerance of a saint. No wonder she could put up with all the crap she gave her, when she has a sister as competitive as Alex.
She spent so much time chaising fruitlessly after Nia and Winn, trying to catch ither of them alone. Lena didn't need people questioning what she was doing, She hardly knew herself. When James finally caught up to Lena at the start of lunch his expression suppried Lena, what reason did he have to be worried?
"Lena are you ignoring me? Whatever I did I'm sorry. I didn't mean too," the appology etched into his features. "What I'm not avoiding you," Lena's brow crinkled in confusion.
"Where were you Sunday then? I went over to your house Sunday night to see if you wanted to hang out, no one answered the door so I assumed you left early in the morning. You didn't reply to any of my texts, and I've hardly seen you all day." Pausing he took a breath. "How can you not be avoiding me?"
Did she really do that? Lena hadn't even noticed, her mind so preocupied with her newly found admirer. "I was thinking" Really? Was that the best she could do?
"For two days?" He was hurt, that much was clear. "What could be so important that you couldn't even text me back?"
Lena could only shrug. She couldn't exactly come out and say that she had been absurdly obsessed with thoughts of Kara of all people.
Letting out a resighned sigh as his sholders slumped he scrached the back of his neck. "Okay what about last week then? You were distant at best then, too?" Again Lena shrugged "Okay. Come find me when you want your boyfreind around again." With that he headed outside to join everyone else for lunch. Lena meanwhile decided to remain inside.
"Where were you at lunch, Lena?" It was after school and Lena was headed towards her car Sam in tow. Kara, standing up ahead glancing about for something. "Huh?" She really should pay more attention when people are talking to her.
"Where were you at lunch, silly?" By this point they were right next to Kara.
"Umm, I had homework to finnish up," the words coming out as a mumble. Kara ever so slightly turned her head to one side a crinkle appering on her forehead, as if she knew Lena was lying.
"Oh what are you standing about for Kara?" Gotta love Sam and her innocent questions sometimes. "Alex"
"She said that she was heading to... somewhere, I can't remember nor do I care" the two girls watched as Kara shook her head "Great now I have to fly home.. On... On a bus" she let out a nervous chuckle after noticing my slightly amused expression. "You want a lift Kara?"
Kara seemed shocked at the question, for a moment anyway. Before quickly being replaced by a beaming smile. "Sure" so the three of them climbed into Lena's car, Kara insisting to sit in the back since she was a late addition to their trip.
Halfway to Sam's house Lena realised that Kara was sitting in the back just blaintly stairing at her. She didn't want to say anything with Sam rambling on beside her though. For the remainder of the trip Lena's attention was split between the road, and throwing Kara odd looks through the rear-view mirror. Every now and again giving Sam those polite responces that let people contine the conversation without really saying anything in return.
Did Kara always shamelesly stare at her? Or was that new? One thing for sure it was unnerving, but not in a crepy way. Finally arriving at Sam's house, Lena all but pushed her through the door. Maybe now she could tell Kara to stop with the staring.
"Stop staring" not bothering to look at the other girl as she slid into the front seat. "Why? Your beautiful to look at" a blush immidiately rose to Lena's cheeks at her words, a small chuckle paired with a sheepish smile rising from Kara at the sight. Silence remained for a short while before Kara spoke once again "So where were you at lunch? Really."
"Doing homework." "Right I've never known you to not have your homework done atleast two days beforehand" Lena shot Kara a 'what-the-hell' look. How does she know that? "I have my ways, but really, where were you?"
She guesses it couldn't hurt; Kara seemd to know everything else in Lena's life after all, "Got in a fight with James, figured it would be better to not be around him right afterwards." When Kara didn't respond Lena glanced over at her, seeing a thoughtfull look on her face, one that morphed into understanding. "He's really upset about it you know. Why were you avoiding him?"
"I wasn't, I didn't even realise I was until he told me." Hand thumping the steering wheel in frustration. How was it that this became so tangled? "How do you know he's upset anyway?"
"He was telling me and Winn about it juring math, he reconds you're hiding something from him" pausing for a moment Lena could see when realisation set in; Kara's whole body went stiff for a second as she looked back at Lena. "He dosent know, does he?"
Lena stopped infront of Kara's house, nither made any move to leave. "He knows about the roses and the notes, but I never mentioned going to dinner." Lena's voice trailed off as she began to fiddlewith her phone.
"Why not? I'm not worth you guys arguing over and posibly breaking up" Lena's eyes shot up to Kara's disbelief evident "What? I'm not. All I wanted was to tell you how I felt. You guys are perfect for eachother. I was never trying to take you from him." You could though, the thought crossing Lena's mind before she even had time to process it. "I couldn't do that" shaking her head as if the posibility didn't even exist. If only she knew. "Just tell him, he deserves that much." With that Kara left Lena to her own mussing, and went inside her home.
