Maria went off.
She walked one block to get to the hospital her mom was in. As she entered, all the employees were looking at her. It must've been the eyes. The eyes of a young girl in search of something she needed so bad. The eyes of mixed emotions.
The eyes that also looked like the eyes of Marie Heusaff.
As she asked the receptionist for where her name was, she was instructed to go to the 9th floor. Her mother would be waiting for her at the end of the hallway. She was still working on her shift.
The elevator's doors open.
She sees a woman in a nurse's uniform at the end of the hallway.
She was standing tall, holding an envelope on her hand.
Maria ran like there were cheetahs behind her. Her face was filled with joy, and tears.
"Mom! Mama!" She exclaimed.
"No! Shut up! Everyone's going to hear you!" Her mom whispered back.
They entered a dark room.
"From now on, you're going to call me auntie. Everyone knows that I have a family now. If they hear that you're calling me mom, it would be such a big embarrassment.." Marie explained to her young, naive daughter.
"A great start... I suppose.." The first thing Maria thinks of as her mother explains.
