"So... We have a match next weekend, would you wanna come watch?" Akaashi asked, and proceeded to put a piece of chashu in his mouth.
I nodded, and slurped up the ramen noodles in my mouth before answering, "Sounds like fun! From what you told me, I'm sure Bokuto would appreciate it if I cheered for him extra loud during the match." I laughed.
"I will be eternally grateful if you could do that." He chuckled, and I gave him a simple thumbs up.
"Can we go get some groceries before going back? I'm pretty sure there's nothing to cook at home anymore." I asked while fishing for my card out to pay the bill. Unfortunately I was a second too late since he had managed to get his card out before I could. I pouted, annoyed that he was faster.
"Yea we can. Let's go." He said, standing up from our table and giving me a head pat.
We went into the supermarket next door and I grabbed a couple ingredients, thinking about what I was going to cook the next few days. Akaashi also grabbed a few things he liked, and a bottle of orange juice. I paid for our things and we were on our way back home.
Recognizing the familiar view, I couldn't help but smile. A month ago, I would never have thought I would be walking home with him again. It was already completely dark out, just like last time. Our only source of light were the street lights, although they were way too spaced out from each other and a few lights have already stopped working. A month ago, I managed to become friends with this sweet, caring, and absolutely charming boy. He makes my days a hundred times brighter. It was nice to not be home by myself all the damn time. These days, the only times I'm alone is when I'm sleeping, after Akaashi leaves at night to go back home to go to bed. My mind drifts off into an inappropriate thought, what if he didn't have to leave at night— A deep blush rests on my cheeks as my mind started going wild at the thought.
"What are you doing back there smiling to yourself about, slowpoke!" His deep voice snaps me out of my thoughts, but as I look up at his face, somehow my thoughts came back rushing. The images in my mind became clearer. I don't even know how, but it felt as if my whole face was on fire. The tips of my ears were burning up, and I felt a little embarrassed since he was still looking at me.
"Uhhhh nothing!" I rushed up to walk beside him, looking down. "Just recalling how we were walking together a month ago, the weather was just like this back then." I said with a small smile.
"Ah, the day I had to carry you home..." He lets out a small laugh, before pulling his phone out to show me his home screen, a picture that he snapped of us that night, with my hair all wild and curly, and half his face. Wait, that's his home screen picture..? "That's the night we became friends." He gave a genuine smile.
The redness on my cheeks settled down, and I gathered my courage to ask the question, "Why is that your home screen picture?" I paused, thinking of something else to say so it didn't sound so awkward. "I look horrible there."
"Mmm... It's our first picture together. And also the only picture I have of us. And I think you look stunning here." He rambled on and ended with a close-eyed smile.
... And I think you look stunning here.
