Chapter 9

"This is such a bad picture of you." Kameka tsked from her spot next to Laynette on the couch as she flipped through a magazine that had a picture of Adrian and Laynette from last week.

Laynette grunted in response from her spot on the couch, she was lying down with her feet hanging over the armrest.

"The ones from his fan page are so much better." Alison commented from her spot on the floor below them "They have your angle down." She added as she grabbed one of the doughnuts from the coffee table.

They were currently at their condo in downtown Los Angeles. Yes that's right, Laynette has two places of living. She spends most of her time with her brothers but when she wants to get away from them she lives with her best friends for a few days.

"Quick question." Kameka said as she sat the magazine down "Why didn't you and Casanova stay here? Wouldn't it be easier for the two of you since you guys wouldn't have to fake it with us?"she asked.

Laynette side eyed her "Landon wanted to get to know Adrian so we're staying there until further notice." She lift grabbed the remote "Plus. Adrian doesn't know about my living arrangements."

Kameka raised an eyebrow "You didn't tell your man that you actually live here too?" She asked.

"He's not my man." Laynette chimed "and he doesn't need to know that yet." she waved her off.

"That's bad Lay Lay." Alison teased "You shouldn't keep secrets in a marriage." Laynette glared at her "It might cause a riff." She pouted "How are the in-laws?" She asked.

Laynette sighed tiredly as she thought about the past 4 days with her 'in-laws'. Their family dynamic had changed once again within a week. They just settled into a nice routine with Adrian there but adding his parents would take some time to adjust.

The first day meeting them wasn't as bad as it could have been but living with them was another story. Paco doesn't make much noise so it's like a ninja is living with a ninja while Aitana on the other hand was boisterous so you knew exactly where she was at any moment.

One thing that Laynette did enjoy was the home cooked meals and the new acquired family time during them.

She looked at both her friends "It's-" She paused "New."

Kameka raised an eyebrow "That bad?"

Laynette shook her head "No, it's just new."

Alison glanced at the clock "You have one more hour before your photoshoot." She looked at Laynette "Where did you say it was?"

"At one of their headquarters." Laynette answered as she sat up "It's by Coco Ichibanya." She added as she stood up.

Today was the day for their interview with PEOPLE along with a photoshoot. That past Saturday they had a mock interview with Tomas, Adrian's PA, to get their story straight. It was originally supposed to be with Josh but he had a family emergency and had to fly back to Spain.

It took her exactly 45 minutes to get to location. As soon as she got parked, she called Adrian but couldn't get through. She narrowed her eyes as she got out and tried to call him again but frowned when it went voicemail, she kept her frown as she looked at the building before going in. She went through security before stopping at the reception desk.

Laynette waited until one of them was done with a phone call "I'm here for an interview." She told the front desk.

Both of the women looked at her before the brunette answered the phone again.

The redhead typed away on the computer then glanced at Laynette "Rey?" She asked.

Laynette stopped the bitter smile and gave a forced one "Yes, that's the one." She answered.
