You struggled with opening your eyes the next morning, as you groggily try to wake up. Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you slowly sit up in bed with a sigh after what you heard last night through the door you couldn't fall asleep with so many questions racing through your mind almost making you dizzy.

You get dressed with the hopes that at least Shadow will keep his word and explain what happened last night! Who's Ghirahim? And why were Vaati & Shadow both displeased with him being here? Just what was Ghirahim talking about that made him sound worry about Vaati?? And Vaati...

A blush dusted your cheeks as you suddenly remember the almost kiss of last night. With a deep breath Y/n leaves her room and walks to the kitchen for breakfast, Y/n eyes widened in surprise to see both Vaati and Shadow sitting at the table in complete silence with a gloomy atmosphere hanging around them.

*Ahem* you clear your throat in hopes of clearing the air and breaking this deafening silence you just walked into. Both men look up Vaati seemed quite tired "Good morning!" You say with a cheerfully wanting to lighten the room at least a little. They both gave you a weird look for just a moment when Shadow spoke up "Morning Y/n! Sleep well?" He smiled but you knew immediately that it was fake. You smiled back as best you could (you just woke up!) And went to get a hot drink and breakfast.

Vaati got up from his seat "I have work..." You looked at him shocked, you just sat down! Vaati didn't make eye contact with you or Shadow and make his way to the study as if a strom cloud was following him. You watched him walk off and turned your head sharply at Shadow as he takes a drink from his cup.

If you wanted answers now was the time to ask! Before Shadow found an excuse to disappear like he always does when he does not want to answer something. Shadow feeling the intense gaze on him darted his eyes everywhere but at you. "Y/n... I know I'm good looking but no need to stare me down like that." He joked with a grin, you shake your head at him "Shadow you said you could tell me about what happened yesterday remember?" Shadow raised an eyebrow "Wow, jumping right in to it, huh?" You nod staring him in the eyes. Shadow sighs "Fine I'll tell you who Ghirahim is... But as for what he wanted only Vaati would know! But if I were you I wouldn't bother him today, wait until he's in a better mood alright?" You smile "Okay I'll wait to question Vaati later, he doesn't seem to be very happy." Shadow scuffs and mumbles under his breath "That's an understatement..."

"Anyway! About Ghirahim and Vaati, how should I put this? They in a way worked together for this big boss, but the two of them always competed with each other!" Shadow looks at Y/n, she nods to encourage him "Ghirahim and Vaati are like rivals even though their working for the same person. But Vaati messed up something big for his job, and Ghirahim ended up getting more popular and over shadowing him. One thing lead to another so he moved out here." Shadow sighs and looks to Y/n. Y/n frowns at Shadow "But what did Vaati do that he left? It wasn't just because of Ghirahim right?" Y/n asked with concern, Shadow rolled his eyes "Details, details! You're better off without them!" He gets up from the table "I've got work to do too! I'll see you later Y/n." He smirks and quickly leaves.

During the rest of the day Vaati never leaves the room Shadow made more appearances but he never cleared up what you too talked about that morning. You were worried about Vaati not eating and Shadow just shrugged it off "More food for me!" He said.

You nervously stand infront of Vaati's study room with a tray of food and drink, You didn't want Vaati to be hungry or get thirsty you knew he could never do his work properly like that! That being said you never really go in his study maybe a couple of times but never for too long (It's like he's hiding something?) You sigh worried he could get mad... But you still had to... No! Wanted to take care of him. With a single hand you knock on the door with bated breath ~silence~ maybe he didn't hear? You raised your voice slightly "I-I brought you food! In case you're hu-hungry!?" You blush at your obvious stutter, you were nervous to face him because of the tense mood but the stutter?! Sigh

~Silence~ You debate in your about eating the food yourself or breaking the door down "You can come in Y/n..." You jump out of your own thoughts when Vaati's voice broke through the air. You opened the door to reveal a busy looking Vaati and his study looking the most messy you've ever seen it! Vaati looks up from a very thick book "Ah Y/n!" He smiles "Thank you for bringing me food... I suppose I was busy and forgot to eat." You give him a concern look "But Vaati! You need to eat! I know you're working but still I... Uh" you and Vaati make eye contact You realize what you were saying "I mean~ I'm just saying!?" You try to recover but shrugging it off, you fail and he starts chuckles at you. You can't help but smile he laughed and smiled! Finally.

"You should eat before your food gets cold." you giggle he gives you a dashing smile "Alright." He said softly "Uh, Vaati?" "Yes, Y/n?" You play with your fingers "Are- are you doing alright?" Vaati looks up from his meal at you "Don't worry Y/n everything will be just fine." You nodded knowing that you most likely won't be getting any information out of him today.

Vaati finished his "Thank you Y/n, you're such a treasure." You blush getting the tray you "Your... Welcome." His random pet name made you feel shy. As you lifted up the tray you saw a strange black letter on the desk hidden under a book only it's corner was showing but still it made you feel uncomfortable. Vaati noticed "Really thanks Y/n. But I need to focus on my work now you understand." Vaati said it rather curtly as if trying to get you to leave as soon as possible "Right! Of course, be sure to take breaks okay?" You say as you leave he smiles at you and nods you nod back and slowly closed the door, sneaking one last peek at the strange letter.
