(A/n Head canon time! Octavo and Vaati are cousins with a really good relationship, like brothers. If you didn't know Octavo is from a game called The Cadence of Hyule.)

The tense atmosphere lingered around the cabin for day's. Y/n tried to act as normal as possible but that was hard to do when everyone else was being strange. Vaati barley leaving his study, and Shadow seemed a lot less carefree.

It was a rare opportunity before Y/n as both Shadow and Vaati were in the same room at the same time, Vaati was looking at the bookshelf looking intensely for a book, meanwhile, Shadow has fallen asleep on a chair in the living room. Y/n wanted to say something but the air was still gloomy so instead she stared at Vaati opening and closing her mouth trying to come up... anything! After a few minutes Vaati suddenly looked back Y/n jumped at the sudden eye contact, Y/n looked away not really sure what to do now. Vaati sighed "Y/n..." Vaati walked over to Y/n abandoning his search for the book he needed, Vaati stopped when he was in front of Y/n "Y/n is something wrong?.... I'm sorry if I haven't been out of the study for to long." Y/n looked back to Vaati he seemed rather tired and worried, Y/n felt bad not knowing what to do "Vaati I..."

Knock Knock

Both Vaati and Y/n eyes widened and exchange looks "What? Who could that be?!" Y/n said Vaati walked up to the door

Knock Knock Knock!

Vaati raised an eyebrow at the door and opened the door. "Vaati!!!" Vaati got tackled in a hug as soon as the door opened Y/n mind went blank at the sight, he patted Vaati back enthusiastically "Oc-Octavo?!" Vaati pulled out of the hug with a shocked expression the one called Octavo put a hand on Vaati's shoulder "Yup! Did you miss me? I've been meaning to visit, it's been too long!" Octavo smiled broadly. Octavo had long dark pink hair, yellow eyes, and, pale gray skin... in fact he looked a lot like Vaati?! Are they twins?!

"Wait? Who?" You say to yourself confused, "Humm?" Octavo hummed as he noticed you he looked to you with a smile "Hello! How rude of Vaati to not to introduce us~" Octavo said and glides over to your confused self, with elegance he bow's and grabs your hand and places a light peck upon your hand. You blush at his gentlemanly actions feeling rather shy, he smiles and looks back at you "My name is Octavo, I work as a bard for the royal family, so it's always so hard for me to visit my dearest cousins!" He smiled as both of his hands grip your one. Your about to introduce yourself when "Oh? Octavo?" Everyone turns around to see Shadow, he must have woken up due to the noise.

Octavo released your hand and Octavo smiles at Shadow and walks to him "Shadow! It's been so long, how are you." Octavo and Shadow shake hands like old friends Shadow grins "I've great! What about you, you still doing that music stuff?" Octavo smirks proudly and runs a hand through his bangs "Of course! They love me~" he cooed. During the time the two where talking Vaati had walked up beside you although he was standing rather close. Octavo turns back to you and Vaati "I didn't interrupted did I~?" He said looking between you and Vaati, "No, you didn't." Vaati sighed Octavo smiles at Vaati response "Good I was worried. I'm sorry to have got distracted when you were about to introduce yourself." He said looking a little awkward "That's okay, my name is Y/n it's nice to meet you." You smiled at him Octavo nods and says "You must be Vaati's girlfriend! Or maybe his wife?" He nods happily "I'm happy for you two, but I wish you would've told me! I would have brought you flowers." Octavo said happily Shadow smirked and covered his mouth as he snickered, and Vaati's face was the reddish you've seen and you knew your face must have been no different.

"Octavo what are you talking about? Y/n just works for me that's all!" Vaati declares with a monotone voice... but you couldn't take him seriously considering his face was still beet red and he wouldn't look anyone in the eye. "Oh~ if that's what you say." Octavo said in a tone that implied he didn't believe a word that Vaati said.

The four of you sit down at the table and enjoy tea as Octavo tells tall tales and play's his favorite instrument for you, his lute! While Vaati and Octavo where talking to eachother you realize that the tense atmosphere that filled the air moments ago had seemingly disappeared you smiled at the happy feeling that filled the air.

Nighttime has fallen and Octavo has yet to leave "It's gotten quite late, would you be fine with staying the night?" Vaati said as you and Shadow cleaned the dishes. Octavo nodded "Perhaps that would be for the best." He looks to Vaati "I would like to talk with you some more if that's fine with you?" "Of course..." Vaati reply.

After that Y/n and Shadow went to bed leaving Octavo and Vaati alone. "Shall we?" Vaati asked Octavo nods "Sure it's rather late." Vaati and Octavo walked to Vaati's room, Vaati opened the door and let's Octavo in "I have an extra bed in here for you to use." Octavo giggled "What no bunk bed?" Vaati glared at him "After what happened last time? No!" Both men got in there bed "Vaati?" "Yes, Octavo?" "Are you alright? Did I upset you or are you just feeling shy telling me your relationship with Y/n?" Vaati sat up "Why are you asking about Y/n??" "Oho~ why not? I'm just making sure you're doing alright Vaati." Vaati relaxed back down "My relationship with Y/n is... Fine. We're um good friends." Octavo nods "Just friends? That's not what I thought today, you two look like a really good couple." Vaati blushed "If you like her than why don't you say anything?" "Well I did! Sort of... In a way." Vaati looked away "That's a start." Octavo smiles "Sigh~ Good night Octavo." "Good night Vaati."

The next morning the you were awoken by loud noises, you quickly got up to inspect what the noise could be. You got to the kitchen to see Octavo and Shadow fighting about breakfast, "Octavo you nut! You don't put that much butter in! Stop you're going to burn it!!!" Or more like Shadow trying to stop Octavo from burning down the kitchen.

Octavo stayed for a couple more days and then he said he had to leave because "The Royal family needs~ him!" It was sad to see him leave he was a nice guy if not a bit oblivious to some things. After Octavo left Vaati called you to his study but he didn't say what he wanted, you walk down the hallway until you reach the study's door you take a deep breath and knocked and entered the room. "Vaati?" He was at his desk normally he looked more put together today he seemed nervous "Y/n come in!" You go inside "What did you want to talk about?" Vaati nodded got up and walked to you "Y/n! Forgive me for being a bit forward right now! But can I ask you about our relationship?" You state at him surprised to say the least "Relationship?!"
