I forced myself to sit down in one of the chair in that long table. Bored, I scanned the room. This was an big library. Ten times bigger than my high school library. It has a large number of books with many different disciplines. Thanks to this library, students, instructors and lecturer could find whatever information that they needed. Besides, they could find many kinds of books is suitable for the field of study, Moreover, after studying in class, students could go to the library to read favorite books, do Romanian worksheets, work in group projects, or have a language course like I did. For me, it was very pleasant to have an indispensable place in the Institute. Just like Mr.Amar, it's an escape.

I waited several minutes, and then the door leading to the library opened. Mr. Amar appeared, with his coat and fully alert, though I felt pretty sure it'd been super busy day for him.

He took one look at me. "Sorry, I'm late."

I nodded.

Without another word, he turned around and sat down across the table from me.

"Have you pray?" He asked

"Yes. Um, no, I'm in......" I was on my period. I couldn't say that out loud.

"Okay okay. I get it." He dug through his bag, looking for something.

I slid over Pride and Prejudice book and opened it at random. I'd placed it on the table. Less than a minute later, he let out some papers, reading them and placed it on the table too. He raised his eyes from the worksheet, and looked at my book. He stared at me, astonished. "I see you've been reading it."

"I was forced to do so." I skimmed the index. "I'm trying to be an expert in Romanian."

He let out one of his Zane Grey book, placed it on the table, and then handed me the worksheet. Ugh, Another worksheets.

"Yes, reading book in Romanian language will help you acquire that."

"You know what would help?" I asked, not meeting his eyes.

"Hmm?"

"If you quit reading that battered, outdated Western novel and start reading something that came out after King Ferdinand I and Queen Maria crowned as King and Queen of all Romanians."

Mr.Amar laughed. "You failed your Romanian proficiency test, yet somehow, you know everything about Romania."

"Hey, gotta know where I stand, Coach."

Still smiling, he took my book and his book to his hand. "Pick. Read Pride and Prejudice in Romanian or read my book in English."

I sighed, grabbing my book from his right hand. "Never in a million years."

"Okay. Start doing your worksheets, then. You'll be able to answer those question if you really have read Pride in Prejudice as we agreed."

I sighed again, then took out my pen, and started to fill out the worksheets. My reading and writing skill had been increased, thanks to this cruel man. There's another stack of paper coming out from his bag. I saw him sitting, sharply tapping paperwork into straight stack. And then he opened his book and I saw him flipping through the pages. Meanwhile, I had to sit in complete silence and write a short essay about Pride and Prejudice and an extended response, and answer a series of comprehension questions, all in Romanian and in just 60 minutes. No wonder, this would traumatized me for the eternity.

When I finished, I remembered what he said back then. He said that he needed to test a theory he's had for a while. What theory? Ho long was a while? If I were some kind of human experiment, he could have had the decency to give me his conclusion. I handed over my worksheet to let him checking them.
