I sat on the little bench watching benny play chess with himself everyone had given up trying to play with him, but he had made a good few dollars just from betting people who thought they could beat him, he still sat in his jacket I made him honestly I haven't seen him without the jacket since I gave it to him.
"How about we go grab some fries on the way home?" he suggests having counted up all his dollars
"Yeah, that sounds nice"
"You okay?" he asks
"Umm sorry benny, tried that's all" I shrug
"Why are you so tried?"
"Just couldn't sleep last night" I shrug
"Ohh? Any reason?" he asks
"No, just couldn't sleep"
"Here" He offered
"What?" I asked
"Come here," he says putting his hand on my shoulder and he pulled me over a little so my head sat on his shoulder I was confused for a second feeling the cold of his jacket against my face, his hair slightly ticking me where it was coming from his bennie "You can nap"
"That's okay-"
"Nap. no arguing with me" he says tapping my nose
"Okay" I nodded nuzzling a little closer till I was comfy mostly just watching him play against himself
"You made a decision yet?" He asks
"About?"
"Your dress?"
".... what dress?"
"For prom? Are you making it? Buying it? Using one of your nice ones you don't get to wear all that often?"
"I don't know haven't really thought about it"
"Isn't it like... in a couple of weeks"
"Yeah, I don't know I'll think about it"
"Weren't you going to wear that one you made for textiles class?"
"I was but it's only junior prom, I think that dress is a little too good. Maybe I'll make something nice"
"Sounds like a good plan, what colour do you think you'll go for?"
"No idea."
"Well I need to know"
"Why? Why do you need to know benny?" I asked sitting up again
He stopped for a moment looking slightly confused ".... I forgot to ask you didn't I"
"Forgot to ask me what?" I giggled
"Uhhhhhhh..... Well"
"Benny?"
"I forgot to ask you about. It"
"About what?" I smirked grabbing his hat and shoving it in my pocket much to his annoyance "Speak or I'm keeping it."
"I was, gonna ask you if maybe... you wanted to go with me? Just like as friends and all" he shrugs "If you wanted too"
"Maybe if you ask" I smiled giving his cheek a kiss and giving him his bennie back
"So colours? Your thinking off"
"Blue maybe. Maybe purple I saw some nice purple fabric in the store the other week"
"Alright at least I have some ideas," he says
