as soon as we got inside I had to admit I did feel a little overdressed everyone looked borderline identical with the same hair and the same makeup, honestly, the same dresses or at least everyone's dress made from the same pattern I was glared at from the moment we walked into the gym but I smirked holding benny's arm tightly giving him a cuddle and fixing my dressmaking sure everyone saw it.

"Ohh my god, y/n you look beautiful" Lillian smiled 

"Thanks, Lilly,"

"you two look so perfect together" 

"yeah I tried to match his goth cowboy look" I giggled

"and your my gothic little princess" Benny smiled giving my head a kiss 

"You two are so sweet" 

"you look amazing Lilly" I smiled

"well, you did an amazing job" she smiled "it's so perfect, well for me. but yours is worthy of a princess"

we had drinks, chatted with people occasionally, mostly people only ever came up to comment on my dress both good and bad, I saw betty across the room from me glaring with her arms crossed 

"Ignore her. she's just mad you look better than her" 

"I'm trying, I can feel her glare"

"let her glare. maybe we should give her something to glare at?" he suggested wrapping his arms around my waist 

"Like what?"

"come on, let's go have a dance" He suggested 

"You're sure?"

"I'm sure" he nods tugging me over to where they danced I wrapped my arms tightly around his shoulders and he kept his arms around my waist as we gently swayed to love letters in the sand a teacher at one point came over and made us have a little space between us, making us both giggle a little he was slow and gentle but it was so nice and cosy to be in his arms "would you mind if I kissed you?"

"Not at all" I smiled happily giving him a gentle little kiss and then nuzzling into his neck "I didn't think you could dance Mr watts"

"I can do a lot of things you don't know about" he smirked 

"Can you know?"

"I can"

"well you spend all your time playing chess, hardly believe you know how to top anything else"

"well, I save such things for... special moments" he smiled giving my cheek a kiss "for little moments with you" 

"That's sweet benny,"

"Y/n."

"Yeah?"

"... I know Erica threw out the idea of you coming to Paris with me"

"I know. she pissed me off"

"whoa..."

"It did."

"I know it did. but maybe... given everything now. maybe her and your dad might be a little more lenient now"

"maybe if were lucky"

"maybe when I take you home we could ask them, if they would be okay with you... coming to vegas with me" 

"really?"

"Of course, I wanna take you with me, you're my girlfriend."

"You wanna show off to all your chess friends"

"I mean. Kinda. probably the only one who has a girlfriend, that and I could show some of those dumb chess boys that you're actually real"

"they what?"

"There is a bet on about whether your real or not"

"so you've been talking to your chess friends about me?" 

"a little bit," he shrugs "about my cute little girlfriend back home in new york" 

"well I'll have to go just to prove you're not a liar" I smirked 

"you will. you and me in a cosy little vegas hotel room" 

"sounds very nice" I smirked giving him a soft kiss and the music faded out, 

"Okay, everybody! just a small dancing break to have ourselves a little ceremony" The headmaster spoke up on the stage we quickly moved back out of the way as everyone crowded around "Now all the votes have been counted and we do indeed have a prom king and a prom queen" He explained I got a drink rather uninterested in all this "Now...firstly, prom king.... Lucas Hamstead!"

people cheered as Lucas took the stage in his suit 

"betty's queen. I bet"

"yeah?"

"probably stuffed the ballot box with dollars" 

"Probably... hey uhh how about we just get out of here?" 

"yeah let's go get fries" I smiled 

"and Queen... Y/n Y/l/n!"
