silence fell thick over the room. as y/n sat down, she could feel six pairs of eyes on her.

"we didnt know what youd like to eat, so i asked the chef to prepare something simple." Lucien said after a moment.

a door opened to the side, an older man held a corked bottle of wine. he popped it open, took her glass and began to pour.

"than-"

"she cant drink that." victor interrupted.

he had a usual sour look on his face. Y/n glanced over at him with confusion.

"victor, let the young lady-" lucien was interrupted.

"two sips and i have a feeling shed be knocked out. give her a glass of milk. hand that over." victor said cooly.

the butler hesitated, i placed a hand on the glass to stop him from moving it.

"i can handle it thank you." i replied to victor.

a displeased frown came over his face.

"it wasnt an option." he said.

the two of us were now locked in a silent glare. his peircing black eyes were cold and unyeilding. the butler lifted the glass, shooting me an apologetic look, and walked to victor. he took the glass, a smug smile on his face, and sipped it.

"well..." lucien breathed.

gavin was silent, he sipped his drink as if this happened everyday.

a glass of cool milk was set in front of her. y/n didnt bother with it.

"lucien, may i have a glass of wine." she said.

luciens eyebrow raised.

"tch, idiot human." victor growled.

no one answered, it was once again awkwardly silent.

trying to break the ice (though she didnt know why) she said- "uh, lucien, River told me you picked the dress out. its quite lovely thank you."

luciens eyes twinkled gently, she felt a little calm (though she shouldnt) under his gaze.

"actually, i didnt pick it out. but it looks exquisite on you my darling." he said gently.

i looked to gavin, who shot a look at victor.

"victor?"

"you should be more respectful human. its Master victor. do you understand? im not your freind, im your employer." he said coldly.

"my name isnt human then. if your going to eat me then address me properly. respect goes both ways." Y/n replied sharply.

gavin cleared his throat lightly, biting back what looked like a smile and a laugh. lucien just watched with a gentle smile, focusing on victors reaction.

"you have no say in this home human. if youd rather it, you can stay in the dungeon with the rats and flys." Victor growled.

"theyd make more pleasant conversation than you." Y/n said.

"that would be enough from both of you." lucien said firmly.

gavin snorted, y/n could see him cover his laughter with a cough, before he shot her a look of surprise and went back to staring blankly at his wine glass.

"i think we should take her back." Victor said.

her stomach twisted slightly.

"victor..." lucien said warningly.
