Gavin and Y/n broke into a run when they left the stunned crowd of girls.
she wasnt sure where they were going, but she saw a look of pure joy on Gavins face and smiled brightly back at him. he pulled her into a small alleyway, grinning from ear to ear.
"that was... that was amazing!" he said.
his hands were on her shoulders, his amber eyes alert and filled with boyish charm. Y/n smiled just as much, feeling pride welling in her chest.
"it wasnt much." she said sheepishly.
"are you serious? Miss, ive been trying to shake those women off of me for years since coming to this village. especially Varuka. shes such a bitch!"gavin replied happily.
he reached out, his large hands wrapping around y/ns waist and pulling her into a hug. it felt like a moment out of a romance novel, he laughed softly and squeezed her.
"you just took care of half of my problems." he said into her ear.
he sounded so happy. something about it made Y/ns face heat up. possibly because she was settled into his cushy, muscular body. maybe it was his scent aswell, warm and light. nothing like luciens sweet aroma or Victors wine-drenched figure.
her hands wrapped around him, hugging back gently, gingerly. then squeezing.
"i didnt know youd have girl problems. someone as old as you should be smooth with the ladies." Y/n giggled as she pulled away.
she wiggled her eyebrows at gavin, trying to look 'seductive', but it was more like she was having slight facial ticks. gavin however, just blushed and shook his head.
"immortality isnt what its cracked up to be. i dont really like socializing with the women in this town." he replied.
the two were still close together in that cramped alleyway. should someone come in the alley, they would be caught in a scandalous position.
"why not? your pretty well liked, and known." Y/n replied.
he looked a bit confused, but then he took a bit of a step back and motioned for her to follow him.
"we still have stuff to grab on the list, but theres back alleys to get there. follow closely." gavin replied.
y/n trotted after him, avoiding sharp stones on the cobbled path. the dank walls were getting wider, letting in more light.
"even when i was a general i had... less than no luck with girls you know?" gavin said.
y/n nodded knowingly. "yes i understand, you couldnt flirt could you?"
he seesawed a hand back and forth.
"i just never tried. no one... interests me." he said.
y/n shook her head, her heart mightve sank slightly but you would never be able to get her to admit that.
"you know, i think everyone has another person you know?" y/n said.
they finally stepped out into light, gavins arm flung in front of y/n before she could step further. a carriage streaked past, the driver crying curses at the poor girl.
she hadnt noticed him, ready to give gavin a lecture in love.
"pay attention." he said.
he crooked a finger and tapped the top of her head. but she could tell he was trying to avoid the topic.
"you just need to look Gavin. i bet theres a girl here really close who can uh... i dunno get your heart beating again? does it still beat? is it not beating?" she asked.
