y/n wondered the dark hallways of the estate. River wasnt there today, which made her a bit sad. Gavin told her he needed to go out to complete some type of work. she was fairly certain she was alone.

perfectly alone.

her bare feet felt warm on the cool wooden slats. she peeked out at the setting sun from a window, and decided to go back to her room.

dinner would be some of the food she had bought, for some reason all of the butlers and helpers were no longer in the house. she figured it would be because the masters of the house werent here. it felt a little nice though. she thought it might be spooky, but her heart stayed calm as she made it back to her room.

she was close, when something chilled her.

a piano.

what sounded like soft piano music floated towards her from somewhere closeby. she knew there was a possibility of someone being here with her. but she thought that whoever it was would let her know.

it made her uneasy.

what if someone had broken in? what if it was another slave trader? should she go investigate?

the piano music was so soft, it was hauntingly beautiful, she could feel the emotion in her soul. would a robber take the time to play such a pretty melody before they kidnapped her? that doesnt make sense.

she glanced at her room, and then began to walk towards the sound of music.

it grew louder as she found herself at the bottom of a staircase. this was towards the second level, where luciens research lab was at. should she approahc?

there wasnt much Lucien could get mad at her for. afterall, she was fairly certain a stranger was in the house, so wouldnt he want her to catch them?

she glanced around, and took note of an Envelope opener, the silvre blade glinted moonlight iunto her eyes and she picked it up, as if that could truly protect her.

she padded up the stairs, careful to move with the rise and fall of the music. it was hypnotizing, it felt like a spell. she was certain this couldnt be from any of the boys she had met. they were smart, talented, but this was so... emotional.

she finally approached the door, there was a crack in it, letting candle light spill out.

she leaned forward, as the music came to a loud swell. the sillhouette of a black cladded figure, slightly blurred by the bright light was visible in front of the piano. his back was turned to her, his fingers moved deftly and quickly across each pale key, dragging the most serene song out of the chords.

she let out a gentle breath, nothing he could hear. yet the music stopped suddenly, just as it approached its final Crest. her body stiffened slightly, she saw the man lift his head up, and turn to look directly at her.

she let out a gasp, and turned to run down the stairs.

"Miss L/n?"

the soft voice of Lucien made her stop. she heard quiet clicking on the floor, and soon lucien had opened the door.

"my my, you look quite... is something the matter?" he asked.

his eyes dashed to the letter opener, her wide eyes and surprised look.

"i-i didnt know you were home. i thought someone else was in there." she immediatley blurted.

his normally gentle eyes swept over her hands like steel, he reached forward and gently plucked the silver opener up. Lucien looked more relaxed now, and gave her a gentle smile. he extended a hand to her.
