1x02: High Five

"He can't beat my time, no way." Kieran offered as his sort of words of encouragement, as Jason glanced over at his little brother and lifted his eyebrows at him. "What? I am faster and lighter than you, built more for speed." He explained and Jason motioned him toward the rope.

"Okay then, smartass. Has anybody got a stopwatch?" Jason questioned and Ernie found a girl who had a stopwatch, who was raising her eyebrows at the two. "After you, little brother." Jason remarked casually and Kieran chuckled softly, and he flexed his fingers briefly and cracked his knuckles.

Kieran hopped up and began to quickly climb, as the stopwatch was going and he touched the roof before he scaled back down the rope and landed on his feet once again.

"Time?" Jason asked and the girl looked at the stopwatch with her eyes wide and she was shaking her head.

"12 seconds." She said with almost sheer disbelief in her voice and Jason looked over at Kieran, who was breathing heavily and Jason nodded slightly.

"You win." Jason admitted and Kieran got a bottle of water from Ernie, as he nodded a little. "How did you get so quick at it?" He asked.

"I spend a lot of time here on my own after school and stuff. My main two things are just literally climbing and lifting." Kieran said quietly and he blinked quickly, as he was shaking his head and he nearly finished the bottle of water. "Go ahead... and try not to fall and break something. I am already in enough trouble with Mom and Dad for missing our family dinner night last week. I don't need to add "injured Jason on my watch" to the list of things that they are angry at me about." Kieran pointed out and Jason nodded, as he was starting to climb.

"Billy, hey, look out!" Jason warned their friend moments too late, as Billy suddenly had Jason on his shoulders and their friend was shouting in fear and confusion, as Kieran was stuck between laughter and shock as he moved out of the way to avoid being kicked in the face by Billy.

Kieran caught himself before he started laughing and instead, he was just shaking his head at the two. "Jason, you didn't hurt yourself did you?" He asked as Jason was shaking his head. "That's good." He said as he helped up Billy, who looked shaken.

Then naturally, Bulk and Skull came in and made everything ten times worse. "Bulk, I suggest that you leave us all alone before we send your sorry butts out of here like they are on fire." Kieran said and his tone of voice was like steel, as he was pissed off at being called "monkey man" and he was getting real tired of them both.

"What are you gonna do about it Monkey face?" Bulk asked and Jason caught Kieran by the arms, as his little brother looked about ready to kill the bully for that.

"You should really think twice before pissing fighters off, you know." It was the girl with the stopwatch and Kieran raised his eyebrows, as they all turned to look at her. "I mean, seriously, who would piss off fighters like that? It really just seems like you are asking for a beatdown now, even if they look like they can control themselves before they beat you into the ground. Am I right?" She asked and Jason looked at Kieran, who lifted his shoulders in a shrug. "But go ahead and keep it up. Don't stop on my account, I was wondering how it would end." Kieran was inwardly chuckling at the words, and he was shaking his head at the shocked looks on Bulk and Skull's faces and they left without any further words.

Seeing that the potentially dangerous sort of situation was over the girl who turned and walked back to her table without any more words to say. Quite literally, to anyone.

"Well, that was interesting." Jason remarked and Kieran nodded slightly, as Jason let go of his arms. "You cool now or do I need to drag you to the lake?" He questioned.
