Kiara's return was not what she had hoped. Of course she didn't expect a red carpet laid out in her honor or an arm filled with lovely eye-catching bouquets, but just a little more enthusiasm from her parents would have sufficed. Unfortunately, wishing for that is like wishing for snow in the desert.

The group prepared themselves for the beach trip they've agreed on. John B and Pope fill the cooler with snacks and drinks they've prepared for the day. Sarah and Cleo are exchanging swimsuits they got the week before and as for Kiara, she still needs to get her board.

As everyone does their own task, the brunette makes her way outside. She walked to the small brown shack where the surfboards were. She began to see JJ and Maya waxing them as  smiles were painted on their faces. She could tell they were playing around and doing quite a job at it.

Kiara didn't get a good night's rest  and JJ was part of the reason for her lack of sleep. She didn't want it to be but when the mind is so used to one thing living in it, it's more than less difficult to evict it. Like a drug. Easy to get into, hard to depart from. So, she's trying her best not to give into him or the deep altered consciousness.

Her steps were slow once she'd reached them. JJ
caught sight of her and stopped what he was doing, not taking his eyes off of her. Maya followed along doing the same. The three of them stood in uncomfortable silence.

she briefly pointed, "I just came for the board."

He looked behind him grabbing the small white surfboard. If it meant much he would have told her that he waxed it at 6 am before everyone else's but what good would that have done? Maya stepped aside entertaining herself with something else to break the thick awkward ice amongst them. Kiara grabbed the board pulling on it slightly but JJ decided to hold on to it a little bit longer.

"You think you still got it?" he quired.

She looked up at him, "What makes you think I haven't surfed while I was away?"

"Knowing your parents, they wouldn't send you to some place where you have the ability to surf and you look tired."

She lightly snatched the board away from his grasp, "I can handle my own, alright. If I need help I'll ask John B, he's the better surfer anyway."

He laughed quietly to himself watching her leave.

"I'm sensing a little bit of hostility." Maya commented, taking the last board off the table.

JJ went back to the shack plopping on the couch,"Yeah, she's mad at me."

"Mad? Better word I would've used,' she sat with him, "Y'know when couples haven't seen each other in that long, they usually kiss and privately grope each other and according to my calculations... I don't see a whole lot of kissing nor groping."

"I think it's safe to say we're not really a couple...anymore."

"And why is that?'

"Something about me and you being together I think."

She furrowed her brows in confusion, "Oh no, that is not happening. I did not spend almost the whole nine months with you yapping your flap and running around like a little mut without her just to have her think we're a thing. No offense, but you're not really my type"

''You don't think I know that."

"Apparently you don't if you haven't told her?"

"I'm sorry, between her yelling, anger and stubbornness to let me speak, I didn't have time to make an appointment."

"Well, don't. Take it. Make your own appointment and let her hear your side. All girls want is reassurance or in the particular situation, assurance. I never knew you as a type to be a quitter. Especially with the women that took you so long to get," said the red head before she went back to the chateau.
