“Hiya Sammy.” Gabriel said, not entirely happy to see Sam or at least didn’t show it if he was.
“Gabriel?” Sam asked, confused.
“I only knew two of my uncles, Gabriel and Michael. I never got to know Gabriel as much as I wanted to, so I brought him back.” Jack replied.
“From a universe that no longer exists?” Sam had more questions but before he could ask them Jack spoke up,
“Yes. I would love to stay and talk but I have to go now.” Before anyone could say anything Jack was gone. Sam looked to Gabriel who was just as surprised at Jack’s sudden exit as he was. They were both quiet for a moment before Gabriel spoke up,
“I’m going to go book a room.” Gabriel turned around and was about to walk away when Sam stopped him.
“Do you even have money?” Gabriel froze for a moment in thought, before responding,
“Shit.” Sam rubbed his face and stopped himself from smirking at Gabriel’s predicament,
“You can stay with me.” Gabriel turned around looking at Sam before sighing,
“Thanks.” Sam let Gabriel inside and then shut the door and locked it.
“I’m guessing you have a lot of questions.” Gabriel stated, leaning against a wall. Sam turned to face Gabriel, noticing how tired he looked but ignoring it.
“Yeah, like how did Jack bring you back?” Sam asked.
“He’s just as powerful if not more powerful than my ‘dad’ was.” Gabriel put air quotations up when he said, ‘dad.’ Which made Sam think about how Jack probably explained everything that happened after Gabriel died.
“But, when Jack brought me back, he could only bring part of me back.” Gabriel continued. Sam looked at Gabriel in confusion.
“I didn’t come back at full power, I’m human for the time being.” Gabriel explained.
“You’re joking.” Sam replied, not entirely believing Gabriel.
“I wish I was.” Gabriel answered, standing up straight and partly losing his balance. Gabriel looked annoyed at himself.
“Any more questions?” Gabriel asked.
“Yeah. One; why didn’t Jack leave you at the bunker? And two; What about Castiel? Jack brought you back but not Cas.” Sam didn’t realize how rude that sounded until he said it and regretted it almost immediately. Before he could apologies for his words Gabriel answered,
“Castiel is alive, Jack brought him back today. He wanted to bring me back first because it would take more power and wanted to get it out of the way as soon as possible. And he didn’t bring me to the bunker because he knew Cassie and Dean-o would need some time alone.” Sam was letting all of this sink in when Gabriel started talking again,
“So, what about you? How have you been?”
“Small talk? Really?” Sam replied.
“It’s not small talk! I’m just curious..” Gabriel said, annoyed.
“Honestly, it’s been worse but it’s also been much better.” Sam answered. Gabriel sat down on another chair across from Sam,
“How so?”
“Dean is a complete mess. When Cas died he broke, he was angry especially at Chuck. After we took Chuck down and Jack left, he fell apart again. He won’t talk to me about it, he hardly eats anymore.” Sam sighed,
“I’m worried about him, thankfully I have Eileen.”
“Eileen?” Gabriel thought maybe that name was familiar but wasn’t sure.
“She’s my girlfriend.” Sam answered. Gabriel felt his heart sink, when he did he looked to the ground confused about his own reaction.
“Gabriel?” Gabriel looked back up pushing down his emotions whether he understood them or not,
“Yeah?”
“You ok? You looked pretty down all of the sudden, something wrong?” Sam asked with more concern than he’d like to admit.
“Yeah, I’m fine, just tired..” He lied.
“Well, there’s a bed and a small couch. Take your pick.” Sam said, pointing to the other part of the room.
“I’m pretty sure eight-five percent of your body wouldn’t fit on that couch..” Gabriel replied, Sam smiled at the response.
“You really want to take the couch?” Sam asked. Gabriel shrugged,
“I don’t really care too much, but you’d be a lot more comfortable on the bed.”
“Really? I remember a time where you would have fought over the more comfortable place.” Sam responded, half-joking.
“Well, you’re letting me stay here and you could easily kick me out, so…” Gabe replied. Sam smiled and shook his head.
“What?” Gabe asked, confused.
“You act like you think I don’t want you here.” Sam replied, “Gabe, me and my brother owe you one, you probably really saved our lives holding off Micheal like that. Letting you stay here is the least I can do.” Gabriel gave Sam a soft smile.
“Yeah, thanks, Sam.” Sam nodded and then stood up,
“Well, I’m working a case right now, so I’m going to get some sleep.”
“What are you hunting?” Gabe asked, genuinely curious.
“Vampires, a whole pack about a hundred years old at least.” Sam replied walking towards the bed.
“And you’re working this case alone?” Gabe looked at Sam with a small amount of concern.
“Yeah, I don’t really have anyone to help me with it.” Sam sat down.
“I could help, I mean archangels are Heaven’s most powerful weapon..” Gabe remarked, Sam looked at him,
“You’re human right now, and do you even know how to shoot a gun?”
“I’m still an archangel! I’m just not at full power for the time being.. But I can still fight, you have to kill a vampire by chopping its head off, I can do that.” Gabe said in defense.
“Ok, then, you can help me. I’ll fill you in on everything tomorrow, but for now get some sleep.” Sam responded. Gabe fist pumped the air, before walking over to the couch and laying down.
