Chapter 12

Gabriel shot up from his nightmare, his breath sharp and quick and his cheeks red with tears. He heard a knock on the door and quickly wiped his face and attempted to slow his breathing. Looking over to the clock which read 2:47AM. Gabe sighed,
"Just a second.." He said, getting out of bed stepping onto the cold hardwood floor. He opened the door to see a very tired Sam looking at him.
"Everything ok, Sammy?" Gabriel asked.
"Sorry to wake you, but Miracle was in my room and wanted out and then wanted in your room. Is it ok if she stays in here?" Sam looked genuinely sorry about "waking" Gabe.
"No, you're fine I was up anyway..." Gabe stated as Miracle began to try and push her way into the room through Sam who was in her way. Before Sam could move to let her in she jumped on him causing Sam to fall foward onto Gabe who was not at all prepared to catch him. As the two fell to the ground Miracle happily trotted into Gabe's room and jumped on his bed. Gabe opened his eyes to see Sam's face just an inch away from his own and immediately felt himself turning red. Sam watched as Gabe turned red and so did he. They both stayed in the position for a moment. Sam eventually sat up and moved off of the angel, whose heart was pounding against his chest.
"Sorry.." Sam said quietly as he brought himself to his feet and offered a hand to Gabe. Gabriel grabbed Sam's hand and let himself be helped to his feet.
"Uh, no worries.. It happens.." Gabe said awkwardly letting go of Sam's hand hesitantly.
"Well, goodnight and if Miracle gives you any problems just let me know." Sam said, beginning to walk out of the room.
"Ok, thanks.." Gabe stated, still shocked about what just happened. Sam gave him a soft smile and left the room.
Gabriel turned to Miracle who was softly wagging her tail.
"You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Gabe asked, jokingly. As if to say yes Miracle began wagging her tail faster.
Gabe smiled,
"Maybe I am falling for Sam Winchester... I mean I didn't hate what just happened and the smile he gave.." Gabe thought to himself,
"Shit, I like him.." Gabe realized putting his head in his hands..
"Fuck.."

"Fuck.." Sam thought closing Gabe's door.
"Seriously what was that? I have a girlfriend, who I love I do not need to be thinking this right now!" Sam thought while walking into his room and closing his door.
"Plus, me and Gabriel are just friends nothing more. I don't like him like that! No, definitely not! I mean especially with everything he put me and Dean through.. Even if he did apologize he still has to make up for it, a lot!" Sam laid on his bed and faced the ceiling,
"What is wrong with me..?" He whispered to himself.

As the darkness of night faded into day the smell of toast filled the air of the bunker. Sam woke up to it and walked i to the kitchen to see Dean in a "Kiss the chef" apron making breakfast for everyone, as Cas helped butter the toast. Sam smiled,
"Nice apron." Dean looked at his apron and then to his brother.
"What's wrong with my apron? It is a nice apron!" Dean joked. Sam chuckled.
"Bitch." Dean smiled turning back to the stove.
"Jerk." Sam replied, running his fingers through his messy morning hair.
"Is Gabriel still asleep?" Castiel asked Sam.
"I'm not sure but probably.." Sam answered.
"Oh thought you would know, I heard you talking in his room around 3 last night." Cas stated. Dean turned around to look at his brother,
"What were you doing with Gabriel at 3 in the morning?"
"Miracle wanted to go to his room." Sam replied, grabbing a plate.
"Did something fall last night? I heard a thud and got a little concerned but then you started talking." Cas continued. Sam turned a little red,
"Yeah, Miracle tripped me and Gabe."
Dean looked suspiciously at Sam.
"What?" Sam asked.
"Nothing." Dean said, making another plate. Sam rolled his eyes.
The clicking of nails on the hardwood floor caught Cas' attention as Gabriel and Miracle walked into the kitchen.
"Good morning, Gabriel." Castiel stated.
"Morning.." Gabe said triedly. Dean looked over to Gabe,
"You look like shit.."
"Dean!" Sam said annoyed.
"What?!" Dean asked. Sam rolled his eyes again.
"I know.." Gabe answered, sitting at the table and resting his arms on the table and using them as a pillow.
"Why did you get up if you're still tried?" Cas asked.
"Miracle.." Gabriel half responded. Miracle yipped and wagged her tail. Castiel nodded and took Miracle outside.
"She likes early morning runs." Dean stated, turning the stove off.
"Yeah, usually I would take her out but Cas beat me to it." Sam replied.
"You're the reason she likes early running. You always take her on your morning runs and she just got used to it." Dean said. Sam smiled and sat at the table across from Gabe.
"Did you sleep alright? You look exhausted." Sam asked. Gabe moved his head slightly to look at Sam who was genuinely concerned.
"Just a bad dream.." Gabe muttered. He wasn't completely lying the nightmare did really mess with him but it was actually more of a mix of what Nora had said in the nightmare and what happened when Sam fell on him.
"Again?" Sam question while eating the breakfast Dean made.
"Yeah, it happens maybe I'm just prone to bad dreams as a human.." Gabe mumbled just loud enough to be heard.
"If it happens again maybe you should consider talking to someone about it." Sam suggested.
"Yeah cause every therapist knows the drama angels go through.." Gabe remarked. Sam finished eating and took care of his plate then went back to his room to change. Dean sat a plate by Gabe, causing Gabriel to look up at him.
"Eat up, it'll make you feel better.." Dean said. Gabe looked confused at him.
"What?" Dean asked.
"I thought you didn't like me.." Gabe replied. Dean rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest,
"I don't.. After everything you put Sam through, I don't know why he sees you as a friend... But.. You're staying here so I might as well get used to it for now.."
Gabe stared at Dean blankly for a couple of seconds before speaking,
"Thanks?" Gabe responded, still confused. Dean went over to the counter and began to clean up as an awkward silence fell over the room. Gabe ate a little bit before breaking the silence.
"You know, I really am sorry for everything I put you through.. Everything I put Sam through.." Dean looked over to Gabriel.
"I know I don't have an excuse but I thought I was helping.. Maybe because I was told that what I was doing was supposed to help.. Now I know how incredibly wrong that really was.." Gabe continued. Dean stayed quiet, thinking to himself.
"Who the hell told you that?" Dean finally asked.
"Someone I'd rather not talk about.." Gabe answered.
"So, you did a bad thing cause you thought it was helping?" Dean questioned.
"Yeah, I guess I did." Gabe replied.
"It happens.. You still got a lot to make up for though, and we aren't friends.. But you got a start." Dean said, going back to cleaning up. Gabe smiled slightly.

After breakfast and after Castiel and Miracle came back inside; Dean, Castiel, Sam, and Gabriel were in the libary. Gabe was petting Miracle on the floor while talking to Castiel who was sitting in a chair next to them. Dean was looking for cases and Sam was on his phone, trying to talk to Eileen.

(Sam's messages)

Sam: Good morning Eileen, did you make it to Vermont?

Eileen: Yes, but I'm at the libary. Can't talk.

Sam: Oh ok, I love you

Sam waited looking at his phone to no avail. He sighed to himself and looked to Dean who was focused on the computer screen.
"Got anything?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, a woman is in a mental asylum, she was admitted after attacking a police officer after he refused to believe that her son, who had been missing for 8 years, was living in her attic. The officer had already checked the attic and saw nothing." Dean replied.
"A spirit?" Sam questioned.
"Maybe.. Hey you think me and Cas can take this one? It's been a while since our last case and-" Dean began.
"You want alone time?" Sam cut him off with a smirk. Dean nodded,
"Yeah."
Sam chuckled,
"Sure, go ahead. Gives me time to train Gabriel for hunts."
Dean smiled before walking over to Castiel and Gabe.
"Cas, I got a case. You coming?" Dean asked. Castiel smiled at him, then looked to Gabriel,
"Sorry, brother, but I have to go. We can continue talking later." Gabe nodded and Cas and Dean went to pack their things.
