1. I begin tucking him into bed and he tells me, "Daddy, look under my bed for monsters." I look underneath for his amusement, and see him, another him, under the bed staring back at me, quivering and whispering, "Daddy, there's somebody on my bed."


2. I love listening to my wife's sweet lullabies over the baby monitor. Until I see my wife pull up in the driveway.


3. I'm staring into the mirror when my reflection suddenly smiles, turns, and walks out of the reflected door of my bedroom. I turn and am confronted by endless darkness.


4. The last man on earth sat alone in his room. He heard a knock on his door.


5. The grinning face stared at me from the darkness beyond my bedroom window. I live on the 14th floor.


6. I was alone in my house when I heard a noise and reached out for my flashlight. It was handed to me.


7. I wake up to hear knocking on glass. At first, I think it is the window until I hear it from the mirror again.


8. There was a picture in my phone of me sleeping. I live alone.


9. You are tired from a long day of work and ready for a relaxing night alone. You reach for the light switch but another hand is already there.


10. My wife woke up to tell me that there was an intruder in the house. She was murdered by an intruder two years ago.


11. My sister says Mommy killed her. Mommy said that I don't have a sister.


12. As I tucked my daughter in, she said, "Goodbye Daddy." I explained to her that at night we say "Goodnight", not "Goodbye", but she replied, "Not tonight, Daddy, tonight is Goodbye."


13. There's nothing like the laughter of a baby. Unless it is 1am and you're home alone.


14. The covers are always a safe place in my bed, everyone's out and I'm home alone. "Is it that stupid that I'm afraid?" I whisper to myself, then I hear somebody whisper back, "Don't worry, friend, they can't get us in here."


15. "Tilt your head to the corner and cough, please," he said. Then the doctor walked in.


16. Yesterday my parents told me that I was too old for imaginary friends and that I had to let her go. They found her body this morning.


17. "I can't sleep," she said, slipping into bed with me. I woke up, clutching the dress that she was buried in.


18. The last thing I saw was my alarm clock flashing 12:07 before she pushed her long rotting nails through my chest, her other hand muffling my screams. I sat bolt upright, relieved it was only a dream, but as I saw my alarm clock read 12:06, I heard my closet door creak open.


19. The longer I wore it, the more it grew on me. She had such pretty skin.


20. I ignore the sound of my roommate knocking on the door, asking me to let him in. I ignore it as I watch him sleep on the other side of the room.
