Waiting for Simone to come back home probably hadn't been a good idea, Manuel had insisted on staying up and waiting for him with the tv on and a warm blanket covering him. All scrunched up on the couch, Manuel checked the hour once again, for the millionth time that night.

11:45
"Still?" He said to himself burying his face in the pillow under his head. It had been hours since he had left for his "It's not a date I'm just seeing a friend" and he still wasn't back.
Now, Manuel couldn't even complain, cause he had introduced them. A while ago while he was fixing Andrea's scooter, Simone was there with him, as always, Andrea, had come back to pick it up and that's where it had started.
Next thing he knew Andrea was following him on Instagram and liked all his pics. Which were 3, to be exact, and one of them was with Manuel.

Manuel wasn't exactly jealous, at least that's what he thought, he just had this annoying feeling spreading in his chest each time he thought of what they could've been doing together. And he knew it was a date, even tho Simone kept on denying it. Who wouldn't take Simone out on a date? He's handsome, he's clever, he's kind, he feels like summer, like all the good things this world can give you.

Manuel. That's who wouldn't take him out on a date. And Manuel hated himself for it. He wasn't brave enough to let his feelings come out, they were locked somewhere in his heart screaming to get out. But Manuel had thrown away the key and he had no intention of taking it back. It was easier this way. Simone deserved happiness and Manuel could've never been enough for him. Andrea was tho, Andrea would never get scared to hold his hand in the middle of the street or kiss him.

Manuel sighed and wiped away a little tear that had started falling. He prayed for Simone to be back soon and focused his attention on the tv, a cooking show was the only thing that kept him up for another hour when he finally heard the door.

Simone moved slowly, careful to not wake anyone up, he didn't notice Manuel laying on the sofa at first and he thought his dad had forgotten the tv on, so he got closer to the controller and grabbed it when something touched his wrist making him jump.

"What the actual fuck Manuel, I was about to die!" He tried to keep his voice low and brought a hand on his chest right on top of his heart.
"You're back" Manuel stated. He was trying hard to seem careless, like his sleeping on the sofa had nothing to do with him.
"Were you waiting for me?" Simone asked as Manuel slowly moved up, he checked the hour once again, it was almost 1 am.
"No, I fell asleep while watching tv," he said and stood up. He tidied the couch and moved towards the kitchen.

Standing near Simone wasn't an option, he still smelled like Andrea, he still had his touch on him and he hated it. He filled himself a glass of water and drank it all with his eyes closed, trying to calm himself down, trying to get that feeling in his chest away.
The second of peace didn't last long tho cause Simone followed him.

"You're not gonna ask me anything?" He asked leaning by the wall next to him.
"Oh I bet it went well, you look like it did"
"It did go well, yeah, I liked him"
"Good"

Simone saw him wash the glass and put it back in its place, then he saw him lean against the sink, head down and his arms standing next to his body grasping the sink. He was tense, he saw it in his shoulders, in the way his left leg was shaking.

"I'm going to bed" he finally said turning
around. He never looked at Simone, he walked fast towards him praying he wouldn't stop him.
"Manu" he grabbed his arm and stopped him.
"I'm tired" Manuel tried to excuse himself, trying to make the most just to leave.
"Why don't you look at me?" Simone whispered, "Did I do something wrong?" Then added.

Manuel looked at him like he wanted to put him in a bubble and protect him from the world, himself too, but he couldn't do any of that, and he didn't know what love was, no one had ever taught him. So he did what he was the best at. Pushed him away.
