Chapter Eight

Y/N's P.O.V

The room went completely still.

The guys stared.

Dumbfounded. Stunned. Processing.

Honestly? Fair.

I would've reacted the same way... if I hadn't already been thrown headfirst into all of this.

Ray and Egon still had a hold on me, steadying me after the whole "new power activation from hell" situation.

"Come," Dorthea said calmly. "Let's sit her down."

The trio stepped aside as Ray and Egon guided me into the living area. Winston pulled out a chair, and I sank into it gratefully.

Peter handed me a glass of water.

I didn't even hesitate.

Gone in seconds.

The silence stretched.

The trio looked around the firehouse like they were stepping into a different world—which, technically... they were.

Finally—

Manuel spoke.

"You are familiar with the Shandor line," he said, voice measured. "Correct?"

It wasn't really a question.

Peter answered anyway.

"How could we forget?" he said, gesturing loosely. "Ivo Shandor tried to bring about the end of the world via giant marshmallow avatar. Long story. Didn't love it."

I couldn't help it—I let out a small laugh.

Jacob did too.

Manuel... not so much.

Dorthea didn't react at all.

She was focused.

"Gozer," she said. "That was the entity's name?"

The guys nodded.

"And how did you defeat it?"

Egon answered.

"We crossed the streams into the portal it came through."

That got a reaction.

The trio exchanged a look.

A quiet one.

Heavy.

They stepped aside, forming a small huddle.

Low voices.

Urgent.

We all waited.

When they turned back, something had shifted.

"We have been observing both Milo... and you," Jacob said.

I straightened slightly.

"He is aware," Manuel added. "Your abilities are beginning to awaken. He can feel it."

Cool.

Fantastic.

Love that for me.

"And there is something else," Jacob continued. "Your remaining abilities will not wait. They will emerge... whether you are prepared or not."

I blinked.

"...Great."

I rubbed my temples.

"So what did I just get?" I asked.
