I crumpled the piece of paper in my hand and threw it in the trash bin. I grasped a handful of my hair in frustration. The deadline of this draft is in three hours and I haven't finished it yet. All of the editors have been demanding for me to pass it early because they have to proofread it.

Becoming a full time journalist is giving me a huge amount of stress. I graduated two yewre ago, and passed the board exams in one take. Now, I'm a journalist in KBS. One of the largest and leading television broadcasting station here in South Korea. Not everyone can enter that easily, so it was a great blessing for them to accept me with my first application.

It's an honor and electrifying, honestly. I love this job, don't get me wrong. It's just that there's something about this day. Everything is not going well as planned.

"Babe, take a quick break. Breathe."

I let out a soft chuckle after hearing his concerned voice.

I breathed in and out like what he told me to do. What would I do without this man?

"All good now?" he asks.

"Yeah. Thanks, Soobin."

"And that's babe for you, Ryujin."

Soobin and I have been dating for almost four years now. Since my second year of college. He was in his third year that time. Now, he's a lawyer. He's currently in Jeju for a big case that the law firm he's in is handling.

So, we're talking on Discord like kids in high school are doing.

"Don't get so worked up there. I know you can do it in thirty minutes," he said as he munched on his food for dinner.

It's already 10 in the evening, by the way. Evidently, he's eating his dinner at such a late hour. I would usually scold him for this, but I let it slide. He was doing his important work, and for both us, it's our top priority.

My boyfriend was right. I managed to finish my paper within thirty minutes time. The editors celebrated when I got outside of my room, to pass it to them.

Their brilliant smiles were enough to cheer me up for the day. And with that, I was done with my work, and I am more than ready to surrender myself to my apartment's bed.

When I got home, I had to clean the house because papers from my news report draft yesterday were scattered all over the place. I am not the most organized when I'm in a panic mode.

I managed to finish within a few minutes and called Soobin right away. We talked about our day as usual and how busy our works are. It's amazing how we've sticked together for years despite our hectic schedules without having a big fight or making each other mad. As much as possible, I don't want that to happen.

He's currently taking a late night stroll like he said. Then, I noticed that the place he's at is quite familiar. I'm just not so sure where it is.

Suddenly, my doorbell rang. I opened my apartment door, and I was surprised by Soobin's tall figure. He's home!

I welcomed him with open arms, and he lifted me up for a moment which caused me to shriek a little. Both of us laughed, and I gave him a peck on his lips. Oh how I missed this man.

"Actually, we were supposed to leave tomorrow early in the morning. But, I just had to leave earlier than them because I have been thinking about something."

The typical curious me asked what it was, and he went down on his knees. He took something out his pocket, and it was a blue velvet box.

Tears were starting to form on my eyes. Is this real? My heart was beating louder and louder as our eyes met.

"How many years has it been? 4? 5? I've been thinking about this since you graduated. I already have a stable job, and so do you. We are live-in partners, so we can practically live with each other securely now. So..." he clears his throat.

"Shin Ryujin. Will you marry me?"

"Say yes!"

My gaze twitched to the opened door of the apartment and saw my mom. My sister, Yuna. And my best friend, Chaeryeong. What are they doing here?

All of a sudden I felt a weird pressure in my chest. The answer was supposed to be yes, but now I'm starting to hesitate. Can we really be a successful married couple? Is this really it?

I love him very much, and I'd love to live with him for a lifetime. But why? Why do I feel this way?

A sudden memory flashed before me.

I gaze into the eyes of the raven head boy before me. My heart beats so loud, that it can't contain the happiness I feel. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Ryujin."

I shook my head to put it away. Not today. I'll never go back there ever again.

"Ryujin?" Soobin calls my name.

I smiled at him and nodded before saying, "Yes."

Confetti popped into the ceiling of the room, and all of us were smiling. Soobin slides the ring into my ring finger. He stands, and huhs me tightly like there's no end. He places a peck on my lips.

My mom took a photo of us and insantly posted it on all her social media accounts. Now everyone knows I'm engaged. I'm somehow relieved, but still, there's the heavy feeling in my chest that's keeping me anxious.

Within a few seconds, the mobile device in my pocket kept on shivering because of the blasting notifications. I took a quick check and it was just our college friends sending their congratulatory messages for our engagement.

Even my high school batchmates found out already. I'm guessing the reason why they did is because of Chaeryeong and Yuna's live on Instagram.

Then, it was as if the whole scene before me froze when I read that one comment on their post. I glanced up to Chaeryeong and Yuna if they saw it too, and apparently they did because they were looking at me the same way I did to them.

kt.hyun @thebeom lol.
