still stuck in that time

It has been exactly two weeks since the engagement. It's already December of 2023. It's almost Soobin's birthday, but he had to move out of my apartment since our grandparents said that it's bad luck for us to stay together now that we are already engaged. Engaged. I still haven't processed that quite well, honestly. It's sad that I can't be with him here, but if it's for the better then that's fine with me.

When I went to office last week, all of my mates greeted me congratulations with a happy face. Everyone asked when our wedding is, and I never thought it would be such an overwhelming question to me. I never thought a ring in my finger would make such an impactful difference to my day.

Thankfully, Miss Lia, one of the news anchors of KBS, stopped them from being meddlesome. She has been nothing but kind to me since I got in this station. She took great care of me and guided me throughout this journey.

Right now I'm inside the break room to make myself a cup of coffee for my nerves. I just received an invite for dinner in a fine dining restaurant from Soobin's father.

A few seconds after that, my phone vibrates with a special ringtone. It's from Soobin.

"Hey fiance~" he croons and it made me grin.

"I got an invitation from your dad."

He breathes and I can sense that he's scrunching his forehead right now that he's heard about his father.

Don't misunderstand. He loves his dad. It's just that, Soobin doesn't like it when he gets too involved. He says it's making him sometimes cringe or whatever. However, I personally like that his dad wants to get close to me. It's a way of him welcoming me into their family.

I can't believe I just said that.

"You'll go, right?" he asked.

"Why did I even ask. Of course you would. You love him."

I giggled at his words, and answered his question even though he already knows I'd certainly give it a yes.

"Do you know? Yesterday, I gave KBS a huge celebrity news and it got published on our online site!"

"Oh yeah sure. Yeah. Got that. Thanks." I knew he was not speaking to me. He changed his tone so quickly. "I will go now, babe. My boss is calling me. See you later!"

The line ended and I scoffed. I get that he's busy, but how could he not listen to what I just said? He was silent the whole time that I thought he has been listening to me. Well, clearly I was wrong. Is this the kind of marriage I want? Definitely no. I have to speak about this to him soon.
