'THE YULE BALL' PART 1-
D E J A V U
In which Liliana finds herself getting intense deja vu when dancing with Theodore, then the strange events begin to unfold.
~
"It starts in less than a minute. We need to get there, now!" Hermione yells, and I quickly throw my lip gloss onto Alyssa's bed.
"Would we really do this? I mean, Draco will be furious when be sees Liliana with Theodore.." Aurora questioned herself as we began pacing out of the room.
"Dude! Malfoy should only be looking at you tonight, not worrying about his bloody sister he's been insulting for weeks!" Alyssa explained, pulling a strand of her straightened hair behind her ear.
Aurora's face flushed pink. She was fifteen, a year older than us, and in a... complicated relationship with my brother. (At least Draco's the older one, amiright?)
I was actually kind of shocked when Aurora told us about it. I mean, my twin, Draco Malfoy, liking a ravenclaw? Befriending a different house? And openly going to the Yule ball with one? Seemed quite fishy to me.
"Merlin's balls! Look!" Aurora said before pointing to the great hall. Crowds of people with held hands or linked arms (or dirty glares) filled the hall.
The other three were going to the washroom so they could finish up their makeup. Which made me have enter by myself.
I slowly walked closer and closer to the beginning of the staircase. People started falling silent, stopping their conversations, to look over at me.
Pink filled my face when I met eyes with Harry. He sent me a cheeky smile, which I gladly returned. I looked at my date, Theodore Nott, and he looked completely speechless.
Then, I looked at George and Fred. George was obviously trying to look at everything and everyone but me. Fred just had a proud grin on his face.
My brother. He was staring cold into my eyes, with hate. Not for me, but for all the people admiring me. He wanted them to know I was a bad person, but was somehow failing.
His eyebrows were furrowed together, his body tensed as he watched his Slytherin friends checking me out. His hands curled into fists, then they fell to his sides.
In that moment I saw a pinch of softness in him. He looked fragile, delicate almost. It looked like he truly missed his sister, having me always by his side, no matter what.
But then, he looked away.
I begin walking down the steps, feeling the front strands of my hair slightly bounce as I took each step. A smile slowly formed on my lips, and I chuckled to myself.
"Hey, darling," Theodore whispered as I approached him. "Why, hello Mr Nott," I replied, making him laugh quietly.
"Are you guys ready?" Professor McGonagall asked me, Cedric, and the other champions as she pushed her glasses up her nose.
"Ready for what?" Harry asked, and I nodded with him. What were we 'ready for'?
"To dance. It is traditional that all 3 - well, in this case, 5 - champions have the first dance. Surely I told you that," She explained, searching me and Harry's faces for answers.
"No," Me and Harry asked in unison. Professor McGonagall just looked at the clock and said, "Oh - time to go, now," and shoved the others and me into the center of the room.
"Hands on my shoulders," Theodore said, putting his hand onto my waist, interlocking his other hands fingers with mine.
I quickly slung my arms on his back, and got deja vu from the day with George. As me and Theodore swayed to the music, the memories came flooding faster.
Harry turned to me and said, "Oi! You three. You're never going let him forget this , are you?"
"Never" we all said, shaking our heads. Harry laughed and looked back at Ron and McGonagall.
"Everybody come together," she said, and I stayed put, like all my friends did. "Boys, on your feet!" She scolded, making us all bolt up and scatter to find a partner.
I rushed through everybody, looking to see if someone wanted to dance with me.
I felt a large hand wrap around my waist and I looked around to see George.
"May I?" He said, smiling. I could feel my cheeks heat up, and I nodded.
He was so nice, back then. I can't believe he was messing with me. I really liked him, I did. I always stuttered when he asked me a question in Magical Creatures classes (I'm in the advanced class, aka I'm put with the sixth years instead of my year), and got flustered when we glanced at each other secretly in the corridor.
Godric, he was such a dick though! Why am I missing him?!
I can't wait for this year to be over, so I can go straight h... Wherever I'll be staying. I just can't deal with all of the issues I have at Hogwarts.
"Hello? Earth to Liliana," Theodore says, taking me out of my thoughts. "Theodore, yes, hello," I breathe out, and he says just to call him 'Theo' instead of his full name.
"You're an amazing dancer, Liliana. Seriously," he said with a smile. I chuckled and looked down at our shoes, our feet gliding across the ground perfectly.
"Same for you, Theo," I respond, now looking up and across the whole room. People were looking at me, staring. I could feel my scar begin to glow, and I saw a blue light peeking from behind me.
"Fuck, not now!" I whisper-yell, taking my hand out of Theo's and onto my neck. The light shined brighter, and began to burn my fingers.
"Is everything alright?" He asks, looking at me with concern. I nod my head, trying to hide the light from shining.
But suddenly, I saw my father. Lucius Malfoy. He had his wand pointed in the direction of my scar, chuckling as it glowed stronger.
"Hey, Theo?"
"Yeah?"
"I'll be right back."
AH YES, TEAAAA!!
I'm sorry but Mr Lucius had to make an intrusion at one point.. ;)
