20 minutes later...
" Ugh," i groaned as the last bucket was filled with nothing but cow milk. Now since the buckets were finally filled with the help of our dimwitted little brother we headed towards our house where the glass bottles should be right now as we speak. Once we reached the house the air conditioner cooled down our burning skins, making us feel a little better after being in the hot sun for almost 30 minutes. " Man, i'm glad that's over," i said, putting the two buckets i was holding in my hands on the table so i can let the milk sit there for a while. " Tell me about it," Hanna said, slightly using mama's fan to cool herself down. As James brought in the milk he brought in the milk bottles mom brought home and sat them on the table. I looked at the milk bottles as Hanna loaded up her shotgun, meaning she is getting ready for today to be out in the sun once again. " Now, you kids can go on and rest," mom said, walking inside of the kitchen. " I'll take it from here," she finished, giving us a soft smile. In response we all looked at each other and smiled, our emotions being filled with nothing but excitement. " FINALLY!" i said, raising my hands in the air. " Hallelujah," Hanna said, happily getting her stuff packed for the day.
" Bye mom, we'll see ya later," James said, halfway out of the door. Before we could make it out of the door mom loudly cleared her throat, quickly stopping us in a second. " Uh...where do ya'll think ya'll going?," Mom asked, hands on her hips. In response all three of us slowly turned around, nervous of what she might say. " Out, we going to a nearby diner to cool off," I explained, causing mom the raise her eyebrow in response. " When i said you can rest i only meant you have a little time of rest before you have to go to the store for the day," Mama explained, causing all of us to groan and complain in anger. " Oh man," James said, almost pulling his hair completely out. " This is not fair...we just got done milking the cows," Hanna complained, trying to reason with mom. " And how long will it be before we are ACTUALLY FREE!?!?," i asked, slowly getting both tired and angry. In response mom looked at her watch that was motionlessly moving on her wrist. " Um...you all have been out there for 30 minutes right?," mom asked, looking all three of us in the eyes. " Yes ma'am," we all said at the same time, becoming even more worried than we actually should. In response she looked back at her watch then at us. " If you all have been milking the cows for 30 minutes then i say you have...," As she continued to look at her watch me and my siblings had to do nothing but pray. Everytime she brings out her watch we all knew it was over for us.
Either that or my mom is still learning how to tell time on a electronic watch....
As she continued to look at her watch she sighed and looked back at us. " You only have....10 minutes of resting time" she said. " WHAT?," Hanna asked. " Aw shit," James said, tired as ever. " Aw man, that sucks," I said, rolling my eyes in frustration. As all three of us complained mom sighed in response. " I know, I know, you all want to go out sometime," mom said. " But there's somethings you'll have to work hard to get to ya know?," mom asked, trying to give us another one of her advices we done heard one too many times whenever we complained. As we all angrily looked at her mom continued with her....advices. " - How did you kids ever think me and your father became successful?," mom asked, looking at all three of us. In response i sighed. " Mom we know, he grew his one vineyard at the age of 21," i said. " Correct," mom happily said. " And i, as a working mother can get easily tired, especially when you have to work with critters running everywhere in your house all day after work," mom explained. " SO...go have your 10 minute rest and we'll head down to the shop," mom explained. Knowing not to argue with her we swallowed our pride and shook our heads in agreement. " Yes ma'am," we all said, making mom smile in response. " I knew you three would understand," she said. " Ugh, understanding is just a figure of speech in this house," Hanna silently said to herself. As mom was about to walk away we turned around to leave the house.
Before we could completely leave the house mom stopped us. " Oh and one more thing," mom asked, catching our attention once again. " Yes, mom?," i asked, raising my eyebrow at her.As she looked at all three of us she slowly walked towards me. " Take your baby sister with you," she said, handing Diane to me. " It would be nice for her to spend some time with her siblings," she said as Diane grabbed my black bow that is attached to my shirt and started to chew on it.
