"I will go to the capital on one condition"

Count Deruth looked at his son. Cale's tall stature was covering the young man behind him. The count leaned slightly to get a better look at the man, he recalled Hans mentioning that Cale brought someone ill into his home. Hearing about the man's condition, Deruth was worried for his health as well.

But by the looks of it, he looked fine. That relieved the count a bit. He could barely see the dark red hair hiding behind his son.

"Does it involve the one behind you?" the county asked.

Cale turned back to look at the man behind him. Stepping to the side, he gently places his hand on the man's back and pushes him slightly forward.

"Yes. I wanted to bring him with me to the capital"

Deruth was surprised by Cale's sudden attachment to the young man. Based on Hans's report, the man had stuck close to Cale's side often. He took note of his strange clothing and scared demeanor. He had never seen his son grow attached to anyone so quickly.

The Count however did not feel comfortable allowing a stranger to accompany his son. He would much rather keep an eye on the stranger to see if he was harmless or not.

"Isn't the boy still ill? Wouldn't it be better if he were to stay here to recover?"

"I worry about his safety father. You see, he suffers from amnesia. I had promised to help him regain his memory. I worry that if I were to leave him, someone could take advantage of him"

Hmm? That caught Deruth by surprise. If that were true, then he felt pity for the young man. No wonder he looked so scared. The count couldn't imagine how it must feel.

"Is that so?... And you believe that bringing him to the capital could help him in some way?"

Cale nodded and pulled out a notebook. "Yes. While looking through (Y/N)'s belongings we found a journal he had written before his amnesia. It said he was originally studying in the capital for alchemic reasons."

"Alchemy? So this man is an Alchemist?"

"Y-Yes, sir. Though I cannot remember everything I had studied or what I was studying for that matter, I can create potions by muscle memory." for the first time since meeting him, the young man spoke with a soft and shy voice. His eyes were abnormally wide(another trait that Hans had mentioned), though the count couldn't tell if it was from fear or something else.

"He was able to craft a health potion with ease. I thought he might prove of use if we were to help him, father." Cale then gave the Count a health potion. Just by the look of it, he could tell the craftsmanship was akin to the high-quality ones sold on the market. Deruth was in shock of the young alchemist's skill.

"And he is not affiliated with the Alchemist tower in the Mogoru Empire? Surely he would be studying under their supervision."

"It was written in the journal that he left to study on his own. Though it was incomplete, he had written a recipe to..." Cale had an enthusiastic smile on his face as he looked at his father. It looked as if he had discovered a new treasure.

"Create Gold"

"Why would you lie to your father about me?" you asked Cale as you followed him through town. He was carrying bags of bread as per the new routine you had made together. You didn't want him to carry three bags on his own so you were carrying the third.

'I should have exercised' you thought as you struggle to follow him.

"I didn't lie. Technically, you do not remember your past"
