The New Guy Next Door

I'm late, I knew I was going to be late. My ballet shoes were in my bag that was falling off my shoulder. My pink leotard was falling off my shoulder as well. If I didn't fix it soon I would have flashed the entire neighbourhood.

There was another moving van parked in front of the house across from me. At least this time it wasn't blocking me from getting to dance practice.

I can't tell you how much I love my car. The red convertible is perfect for me. I flicked the switch and the roof automatically comes down. "Nice car." A voice said from across the road. I looked across the road and saw a boy, he wasn't from this street, my family know everyone who lives here and I don't know him therefore he doesn't live around here.

I nodded at him "Thanks." I said.

"Whoa, what did I do to you? Did I run over your cat? Did one of my friends not call you back after one night?" the guy smirked at me.

"You don't live around here do you?" I asked.

"I do now." He ran across the road, not looking where he was going. "Names Mason." He held out his hand.

I took it cautiously. "Scarlett."

Suddenly my phone pinged in my bag.

Cleo(patra): Letty! Where are you? Miss Jazz is going crazy! Get your ass here now!

"Shit!"

"Woah there babe, didn't realise that someone like you knew how to swear." Mason smirked while he leaned on my car.

"Ok first of all, get off my car," I glared at him until he did. "And secondly, I've got to leave, so it wasn't a pleasure meeting you." As soon as he was out of my tires' reach I tore out of my driveway towards my dance studio.

"Where the hell have you been?" My other best friend, Nikki asked.

"Meeting the charming new neighbour."

"Damn, what happened?" Cleo asked.

"He was skating in my driveway, and I was running late, he thought it would be funny to introduce himself, he tried to make conversation but then I got your text and he left, I can just tell that he is going to be a huge pain in my ass."

"Scarlett! Now that you finally arrived, we can get started."

It was a brutal, when Miss Jazz saw Cleo, Nikki and mine cardio log books and saw that we hadn't done the required amount for the week, she made us do laps around the dance studio. Gold Class Ballet was situated in the middle of a massive field. So that when dancers like us who didn't fill in their log books would have to run laps to match the amount of cardio that they had to do for the week. We weren't allowed music while we run, Miss Jazz watched Bride Wars once and now she's convinced that running with head phones is bad, for some unknown reason. Miss Jazz is an awesome teacher but we seriously worry about her mental state sometimes.

"So..." Cleo tried to talk while we ran. "What's with the new neighbour?"

"I don't know. I mean he isn't from our neighbourhood, he was skateboarding and that's it really, I don't know anything about him." I huffed as I spoke and ran at the same time.

It was an hour later when Miss Jazz was satisfied with our pain, "Note to self; stop talking while running you need to breath more than you need to gossip." I said as I lay on the dance studio floor.

"Alright girls, now since you couldn't participate in today's lesson, you'll need to stay back and learn what we did, now the three of you to the bar."
