Alex's POV
I opened the door as Teresa stood by my side, holding my hand with a large hot chocolate in her other hand, which she asked for during our return. I couldn't argue, as she bounced to her room, where she had her stuff. Ever since I asked her to retrieve the information or anything that she could do with her skills, she had been busy on her phone, reading and recalling things I knew nothing about. It was hard to trust anyone from the beginning, and that trait was highlighted when Robert backstabbed me by stealing money from my company. Jacob was the only one I had confided in, but with Teresa... everything came naturally. Every feeling, every emotion- it was like the most effortless thing I did.
I went upstairs to my room and Teresa locked herself in hibernation, demanding the privacy and space she needed. Meanwhile, I took a shower and changed into comfortable pyjamas as I headed to my office for the remaining work of the day. At the left corner of the table, under the force of paperweight, I had stapled papers with big bold font 'Oil port Investigation'. Andre, my personal investigator, searched the entire Paris block by block with his connections and as the time proceeded, I knew there had to be some connection between the man who barged into my building and the one spying on Teresa. What I did not expect was for them to be the same person, with a proper setup in the apartment.
When we were coming back home, I handed the hard drive and the laptop to Teresa.
My beautiful girlfriend did not know that we had the man in my dungeon, which I often call my torture room. I, Jacob, Mark and Andre went there and the moment I saw his limp, I lost control. Only one question revolved around my head like stars dancing around; How bad he could have harmed Teresa without my presence? Since it was a torture room, we beat the shit out of that fucker. Well, I guess it was safe to say that after losing 8 fingers, the tough nut cracked a little and said he had a contract from someone to spy on her.
Who that someone was, we need to find out because that man contacted him with an anonymous Id.
I stood up after doing the bare minimum work and headed toward her workroom, where I knocked five times without getting an answer. It had been an hour since we came home and she was locked inside.
"Teresa, love?" I yelled at her door, standing like a statue.
Soft footsteps came closer to the door, and she slammed the door open, hair tendrils flying back with the force of the air. "What!!!" she said, and I swear I took a step back from her.
She was now changed into shorts and a crop top, showing her bare legs, leaving nothing or less to the imagination.
"What do you want to eat for dinner?" I asked. Her own features softened at it and I smiled more, flashing my pearl white teeth at her. One second she gave me the widest grin and the other her smile fell down in a thin line with a stony face colder than the arctic itself.
"Anything with chocolate. Otherwise, whatever you are giving me. And," her eyes narrowed, "Do. Not. Disturb. Me. I will take the dinner when I please."
I nodded and turned around. Well, that was the first of her kind. Before I could have reached the kitchen, her sweet voice vibrated the core of me. "Sorry, and thank you. Have a good night, Alex. I will come to bed when I am finished. Don't wait for me, okay?"
I made a French omelette for both of us and wrapped her dinner in the fridge with 4 chocolate bars. Soon I went to my office, consuming myself in work amidst the silence. It was calm. Comfortable in over one sense to sit on my chair in silence. I wonder if that was because my heart knew her presence. At least, the silence was not biting me like it used to. After some glasses of wine, my head ached, and I made a quick glance in the kitchen. The food with the chocolate bars was gone.
