Third Person POV
"You do realise that 7th March is next week?" Alex asked Teresa, massaging the hair on her head with his fingers. After breakfast, he lifted Teresa on bridal style and stay with her on the sofa in the living room as they talked about their day and work. Meanwhile, Alex kept digging for information about her likes and dislikes. Not that he knew nothing, but better prepared and more for the girl of his dreams.
"Yes, I realise. And it's not a big deal. I have not celebrated my birthday in so long, and it's fine for me. In New York, only Jerry, Mrs Harrison and Jessica used to be present for my birthday. We used to have a simple dinner at one of the elegant restaurants and then go back home."
"Hmm," he breathed in her scent as she spoke.
Alex kept Teresa in his arms until her phone rang from the distant corner of her room. She rushed to the table, where her phone showed John, Jessica's boyfriend, on screen. She hesitated no more second and picked up, with a feeling of distress in her heart.
"Hello? Yes, John?"
"Teresa, umm... can you please rush to the hospital? Jessica had started her labour pain an hour ago. She said you have a bag of baby, which she left for you. We need that." John said, trying hard to contain himself and not panic. He knew what Teresa meant to her girlfriend, and how she demanded the second person to hold their child would be Teresa only.
"Oh my god, I am coming right away."
It took her minutes to collect the bag, which had baby diapers and Jessica's other stuff. She accidentally took that stuff with her when Alex dragged her. Panic and anxiety were coddling her mind. The baby. It is one week earlier than expected. She exited the room in a rush, that she didn't notice Alex standing there with his stuff when he held her by the wrist.
Something was wrong, he thought to himself.
"What happened?"
"It's Jessica. She is about to give birth and have her stuff with me. I need to rush to the hospital, like, now. Can you give me one of your cars?" her voice was shaking, more than she expected it to be.
"C'mon, I am coming with you." She blinked, as much as the surprise she could show right now, but grabbed his hand and headed to the hospital with a smile on her face, knowing how sweet Alex was to accompany her. During their ride, a thought came across her mind: What kind of father would he be? A cool dad who gives lots of toys to their children or a strict one who controls the needs. She would choose the mix of both, but no strings attached. She was afraid to let the hope of her being the mother of his children cross her mind. Anything could happen.
Her eyes drifted to the gorgeous face of Alex, who had been occupying her mind more than she would like.
Soon the car stopped, and she rushed to the room, which John told her. They were just in time as she handed the bag to John, who was looking like a mess. Bags under his eyes were evidence of him waking up all night. A strange knot of anxiety coiled in her stomach as she tapped her foot prominently. Alex seemed to notice her and pulled her close to his chest while his hand rested on her waist. She was feeling anxious about the baby. What if it will have a problem breathing by itself? No! she wouldn't let any negative thoughts cross her mind.
John came out of the room and smiled at her, his chest puffed with pride. "Come meet your godson, Teresa. You to come Mr McOwen."
Teresa sucked a breath as she stepped inside, whilst holding Alex's hands for dear life. It was a miracle that she didn't bruise it with the amount of pressure she was applying. There, laying Jessica on the bed with drips in her hand and a hospital gown. Holding the little bundle of joy, he was asleep in his mother's embrace. The moment Teresa's eyes landed on the tiny baby, tears escaped her eyes. Such precious little flower and they gave her the honour of being his godmother. Her head snapped to her right when honey-brown orbs met her.
