Mias POV:
I sat down on the sofa, looking out to sea, the waves getting stronger again. We'd just left a double red storm and I was pretty sure another one was nearby.

'Rafe? Why haven't I seen anyone in a while?' I asked, remembering how empty his house was.

But then it all flooded back to me. Peterkin, John B, Nassau. They'd left.

'They're busy, Mia.' He replied, sharply. I stood up, turning to look at him.

'Did he take Wheezie with him? To Nassau? You know she didn't want to go.' I replied.

'Mia, it's not forever, just a couple months alright? Don't get so worked up, besides, they'll be back later to pack their stuff.' He replied, almost dismissing the issue, as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

'I can't believe you killed her.' I said in almost a whisper.

He sighed, throwing his arms up into the air and looking at me, really looking at me this time.

'Mia, I saved my family.' He said, sternly.

'And now Peterkins family are destroyed.' I said, moving his hand from my body and sitting down on the sofa.

'I thought you were over this.' He sighed, sitting down besides me and wrapping his arm cautiously around my neck.

'Yeah but the more I think about it, the more it worries me.' I mumbled.

He wrapped two fingers around the base of my chin and forced me to look at him, holding my head firmly in-line with his.

'All I wanna do in my life is protect you, okay? that's what it's always been about. You know I'd never hurt you, don't you?' He asked, softly.

'Yeah, Rafe I know that.' I replied, sighing in deafeat and putting my head on the back of the sofa.

'I get that you'll need time to process things, but you're mine, I can't let you go over something stupid like this.' He said, making me tick over.

'Don't act like Peterkin's murder is just a little blip, Rafe. You're a murderer!' I shouted, finally getting his attention.

'Mia.' He stuttered.

'You've ruined John B's life in the process too.' I huffed.

'Oh yeah? Why don't you go and spend your time with him.' He argued in response.

I stood up, grabbing my jacket and throwing it over my shoulders.

'It sounds like a better idea than sitting with you.' I responded, aggressively opening the front door and slamming it behind me, as I headed to the cut.

'Hey, come on, I didn't mean it.' Rafe said behind me, the door opening and closing once more.

'Just give me space to breathe.' I responded, angrily.

'As long as you don't go near any pogues.' He said, cautiously.

I span to look at him, unable to hide the smile forming on my face at the look of his stressed demeanour.

'I'll not go near any pogues.' I replied, heading in the direction of the country club.

I wanted to go and see Top, and make sure he was okay, but I knew he was either with Sarah or John B right now and that wasn't my business. The country club was mostly empty, it was quiet hour and so the only people around were golfers. I walked up to the bar, pleased to see Kelce was the one behind it.

'Got a new job?' I asked, putting both of my hands on the side.

'Yeah, gotta keep the money somehow.' He smiled, swinging a tea towel over his shoulder.
