Arya was in her fantasy world, but it came to a standstill when she saw a call on her phone from her father. She didn't want to answer the call but Kavya reminded her about the repercussions. Arya then answered the call.
"Yes papa"
"Come home immediately. My driver is waiting at the University's main entrance gate. No further discussion."
Arya's father didn't allow her to say anything further and she had to obey his orders.
When Arya reached home, her father was waiting for her.
"Freshen up and get ready. We have an important party to attend."
Mr. Anand Malhotra, one of the leading business tycoons in India, with an annual turnover of more than hundred crore rupees was indeed a disciplined man and an even strict father. After ordering Arya to get ready, he straightaway went to his room without any further interaction.
Arya was used to this. She never had a healthy father-daughter relationship. She went to her room wherein her caretaker Ragini Aunty was waiting for her with a brand new dress.
"Do you know where I am going, Aunty?"
"Baby. How would I know?" Aunty was feeling sad because she had seen how Arya was treated by her father.
"How stupid of me! I thought papa must have told you as you have prepared the dress for me."
"Somebody came from that bouquet shop to give this dress."
"You mean boutique?"
"What's the difference?" Aunty asked innocently.
"Never mind Aunty. Give it to me. I can wear it by myself."
It was a dark maroon coloured evening gown with diamonds studded on it. The gown was amplifying the femininity with its smooth texture. Moreover, there were matching accessories, shoes and a clutch alongside.
It was something any girl would fall for, but Arya seemed to be little disheartened. She attended the party with her dad and was quiet like a dead person.
She was just smiling for the sake of it whenever her father introduced her to others. Her father was busy interacting with his peers and other guests. He was too busy to notice the discomfort Arya was feeling at the party.
"Oh My God, Mr. Malhotra. Look at your daughter. She has grown up so well. How pretty does she look and so elegant." A lady came near Arya with expressions as if she was eternally mesmerised by her beauty. She embraced Arya in a hug and held her face.
"Oh dear. You look so perfect. I still remember you were that cute little girl who used to love staying behind her father. Look at you now. You have reached his height. How lovely!"
Arya didn't recognise who this lady was. But she still gave an awkward smile to her and acknowledged her. This was just because her mother taught her to be polite to elders.
"Mrs. Singh. It's a pleasure to meet you. How is Mr. Singh? Didn't he come to the party?" Arya's father was being very polite to this lady.
Arya understood that she must be a wife of a wealthy businessman with whom her father wanted to sign a multi crore rupees deal or must have already done so.
She knew her father very well. He never did anything without proper calculations. He always looked at people like assets which would give him good returns and would be amicable only to those from whom he expected long term investments, not to forget beneficial investments.
