"UGH! Of all the days to be running late!"
Alex ran around her bedroom frantically trying to get ready for work as she tossed items in her bag to finish in the cab on the way. Her thoughts had been coming a mile a minute ever since she received the email from corporate.
"Ms. Alexis Lynn,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected as the new head of our social relations department at DYK, INC. Your outstanding work over the last five years has not gone unnoticed, and you have taken our company to heights faster than projected. Your interviews and articles have brought us notoriety amongst our peers, and even the veterans of the media world are astounded at the speed with which we've grown. It seems no one is able to get the story the way you can. You bring a quality to your work that is unmatched.
As you know, we have joined with HYBE, INC. as their central promotions team in the US as they begin their launch of HYBE USA, INC. During this time we will accompany their staff during the new BTS world comeback tour. As the head of social relations, you have been chosen as the point agent that will accompany BTS. Please meet with your upper management to collect the details of this assignment.
Congratulations on your new position, and we look forward to your success.
William Walsh-CEO of DYK, INC"
Alex couldn't stop the email from spinning in her brain. The new promotion wasn't a huge surprise since she had already heard whispers about it through the company. She was grateful, and knew she would give 200 percent to live up to the expectations that came with the position. What she had NOT expected was the chance to work with HYBE, let alone get to travel with BTS!
Just the thought of it made her lose her breath. NO ONE at the office knew Alex was a closet BTS ARMY. Where she came from, K-POP hadn't reached popularity yet like it had in other places. Running into another ARMY in the wild was like finding the needle in the haystack. To actually be in the presence of BTS had yet to happen in her career. Sure, she'd been surrounded by celebrities before, it was her job, but BTS was different. If you know, you know. She couldn't wait to call her mom and tell her the news!
Alex flung her purse across her shoulder, grabbed her phone off the nightstand, then bolted out the front door just as the cab started honking.
"Yeah Yeah, I'm coming!" Alex yelled to Rich.
Rich had been driving Alex to work for years. Probably because he was the only one that would put up with her last minute tendencies. As she closed the cab door, Rich turned to look at her and shook his head.
"Alex, you forgot a button, and there is lip gloss on your teeth. I've never seen you this spazzed out before."
Alex blew out a breath, "Rich, you will never believe what has happened!"
"Spill it girl."
"I got the promotion at work, like we knew I would, BUT IT GETS BETTER!" Alex beamed at him.
Rich rolled his eyes, "Your luck this year has been on point already, what else could possibly go right?"
Alex did a little but wiggle in her seat, "I was selected to tour with BTS for their new world tour!"
Rich's jaw dropped, "Gimme your mojo please. My dating life sucks."
Rich knew about Alex being an ARMY, and was always patient when she gave him updates about them. Aside from her mom, Rich was the only person Alex talked to about her fangirl tendencies. He pulled away from the curb and hauled ass through traffic to get Alex to work on time. As usual, Alex finished up final touches on her makeup in-between abrupt stops. She was a pro at getting the job done no matter the circumstance.
Rich pulled up to the sidewalk in front of DYK to let Alex out. As she opened the door he called out, "Good luck with your boys, maybe you'll sweep one off their feet!"
Alex shook her head and laughed as she turned toward the building, she yelled back over her shoulder, "Yeah, only in my dreams!" Her very wildest dreams. . . .
