"What? He's on parole? That's so stupid!" Rayha exclaimed, slamming her hand down on the counter.
"I know, sweetie. But there isn't anything I can do." Rayha's mom sighed.
"Oh my gosh, does Rose know?" Rayha was shocked. Why'd they let him on parole all the sudden?
"I'll call her mom, but I'm pretty sure the police will call her for us.."
"Okay mom," Rayha sighs. "I'm going to go do some homework."
No she wasn't.Rayha sneaks out of her window, using her throw-down emergency ladder. She feels tears rimming her eyes slightly as she brushes her fingertips over a carving in the tree.
"Any1 Reading dis carving on dis tre suks (not u Rayha) (not u penguins) -Luke"
It looked like a 7-year-old carved it, and he did, but it had a further meaning to Rayha. The day the accident happened was the day this carving was carved. And it pissed Rayha off that he would carve this and then go do that. She didn't realize 7-year-olds were that manipulative.
And she was going to find out why he did what he did. And also what they were having for dinner, Rayha was hungry.
