Siddharth was sitting on his bed, facing the window, in a pensive mood. His mind was as perturbed as the roaring Arabian sea, just a few kilometers away. Somehow, nothing was simply right or wrong anymore.
' Why does it have to be like this? Can't the both of us keep things simple?'
Two days ago, Abhishek had confided in him a troubling secret, which was ticking like a time bomb in his heart. If revealed, this secret had the potential to break apart not only their careers and relations, but also two families, which had been closer than kin for the last few decades. Why did Abhishek have to be, like THIS..? Confessing the truth now, when both of them were betrothed to suitable girls in each others' families? And of all the people, why him?
The answer was obvious. Both of them had bonded quite well, right from childhood, and now, when Abhishek's heart had to choose, it had to be him. He had been practically avoiding Abhishek for the past two days, but his mind knew that this was not a solution. He had to face it, face Abhishek and face his own feelings.
Deep down in his heart, he knew that Abhishek was not wrong. What was wrong was the society's notions of 'morality'. Abhishek would never be accepted for who he is. Being himself, Siddharth did not give a damn to the society, or it's so called 'code of conduct'. But he was scared for Abhishek. Both the families, especially Abhishek's father, would not let them have their way. Abhishek would have to face his wrath for sure.
But then, Siddharth was not so sure about his own feelings as well. Was it mere brotherhood, or something more....??
" Sid, are you awake?"
Abhishek was at the door, peeping in. Even he looked troubled.
" Abhi, we need to talk. Come in"
Abhishek came inside, closing the door gently. He seemed to be aware of the raging storm in Siddharth's mind. He tried to maintain a stoic face, in vain.
" Abhi, are you sure about this? Do you now regard me as.....
your ........?"
