I had come to find out that the red head was Ron and the bushy haired girl was Hermione. And the one with the scar was Harry Potter. The Harry Potter. Defeated of the dark lord himself.

"Caput Draconis" our prefect Percy said.

The portrait of the fat lady swung open reveal a round hole in the wall. We all scramble through it and find ourselves in the Gryphindor common room.

Percy directs the girls through the door into our dormitory. I stayed close to Hermione as we made our way up the spiral staircase.

I sit down onto my new bed taking in the dorm room.

The beds were arranged in a circular formation with a small stove in the middle. All of the beds had velvet curtains hanging from them. Our trunks had already been brought up from the train. It was cozy.

The castle was far more interesting than I could have ever imagined. There were a hundred and forty two stair cases most of which moved to completely different ares of the castle. Then the doors that wouldn't open unless you ask politely and tickle them in just the right spot, and the doors that look like doors but aren't doors at all. It was really hard to remember where anything is. The people in the people in the portraits visited other portraits and I'm pretty sure the armor could move.

Peeves the poltergeist would practically attack you if he found out you were late to class. But worse is the caretaker filch and his creepy cat Mrs. Noris.

Harry, Ron, and I had managed to get on his wrong side the very first day. Filch had found us trying to open up a door that turned out to be an entrance to the out of bound corridor. He wouldn't believe we were lost and insisted we were trying to break in. The only we reason we escaped with our punishment is because the defense of the dark arts teacher, Proffessor Quirrell, saved us in passing.

Friday was an important day for the three of us. We had successfully found our way to breakfast without getting lost.

"What do we have today?" I ask the boys.

"Double potions with the Slytherins," says Ron, "Snape's head of slytherin. They always say he favors them."

"Wish McGonagall favored us," Harry grumbles.

Just then the mail arrives. Of course I hadn't gotten anything yet.

I feel a letter land on my lap. I look down and see the black envelope. I delicately open the letter and unfold the parchment.

Meet me at the courtyard
~DM

I delicately fold up the letter and slip it back into the envelope before anyone can see it.

"Who's it from?" Asks Ron.

"My parents," I say hastily.

"Are they wizards?" Harry asks.

"I don't know who my dad is," I say truthfully, "but my mom isn't. She is a compassionate woman either. I'm honestly surprised she sent anything."

The only lie there was that my mom wasn't a wizard.  She's honestly probably forgot my existence by now.

Our first potions lesson took place down in the dungeon. It was colder heat than up in the main castle.

Snape started the class with roll call. He made a pause at Harry's name make a mention of him being our new celebrity. I heard Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle snickering behind us.

Snape finished calling names and his
