Chpt. 10: "Cold Flash"

Douma: "Alright. Enough Lovey dovey. Let's get started."

Tanjiro's thoughts: "Shit! They're sending in Upper 2 right away... And right after my sword broke too. Damn it... This is bad... at this point I'll be more of a hindrance to Kanao than help. But I can still do whatever I can to distract him enough to give her an opening."

            Tanjiro began to attempt to sit up but was pushed back to the ground via a gentle hand on his chest. Tanjiro looked up in confusion as Kanao looked down at him with a gentle smile on her face that conveyed to Tanjiro that she would be fine and for him to just rest up. 

           Tanjiro obliged and laid back down, beginning to try to get his breathing under control as Kanao stood up and grabbed her sword off the ground, pointing it at the rainbow eyed demon standing a few yards away.

Douma: "hmm... just you then? Well isn't that unfortunate. After all, you'll never be able to reach my neck on your own."

             Kanao said nothing to the demon and merely glared at him.

Douma: "Hey hey now. Let's calm down a bit. No need to death glare at me like tha-"

             Douma stopped talking and pulled out his fan to parry an attack from Kanao who rushed him.

Douma: "Ooh, that was close. I wasn't expecting you to pounce so quickly! Guess I better get going then."

*Blood Demon Art: Frozen Lotus*

*Flower Breathing, Fourth Form: Crimson Hanagoromo*

             The two fighters clashed blades before Douma pulled out another technique.

*Blood Demon Art: Freezing Clouds*

             Douma proceeded to unleash a cloud of cooled air that forced Kanao to back off and shield herself with her arm as Ice accumulated on it.

Kanao's thoughts: "S-so Cold... If I breathed that in, it would rip my lungs to shreds."

*Blood Demon Art: Wintry Icicles*

              Several icicles appeared above Kanao before beginning to fall towards the ground.

*Flower Breathing, Sixth Form: Whirling Peach*

               Kanao managed to unleash an attack which dispersed the Icicles.

Kanao's thoughts: "Damn it, I'm getting pushed back! He's always ready for my attacks no matter how fast I move... If I could just use that technique I could..."

*FLASHBACK*

Kanae: "Look Kanao. You're eyes are super powerful. But they're also super sensitive. Putting too much strain on them could be very bad for them. But that's what this technique is all about. It puts every you've got into your eyes, focusing them and allowing you to see and move in ways you didn't think possible."

Shinobu: "Nee-san! You shouldn't be telling and showing her that technique! It's too dangerous!"

Kanae: "Don't worry Shinobu. Chances are, she'll never run into an opponent that'll force her to use it but it's still good to know how to use it just in case. Now Kanao, just remember that you mustn't hold this technique for too long or else you may do permanent damage to your eyes."

*PRESENT*

Kanao: "Nee-san... Thank you..."
