aren't promises lies
that you want to keep
aren't havens unreal
so they can deceive?
aren't people dispensable,
nothing more than tools and toys
aren't they predictable
and attention decoys?
isn't love a lie
to cherish is to regret
is this poem the belie
of the things we fret?
- aren't your words lies too?
