"No... Ajax... Hold on..." Lumine desperately dragging Childe's barely breathing body. "Please hold o-on a little longer..."
Her knees finally gave in. She fell hard on the bloody ground. She lost a lot of blood from the slash she received. "We just h-have to get to Windrise a-and... Venti's statue would heal us-" Lumine wrapped her arms around Childe's waist.
"L... Lumine..." His voice barely came out. "W-we're almost there... Just... Just hold o-on a little... longer-" she coughed blood out of her mouth and they fell once more. Tears running down her bloody face. "Y-you stupid Fatui... Why did you turn... against them?.."
Childe wrapped his arms around Lumine's waist weakly. He smiled despite blood dripping off his face. The hole in his stomach is causing him to bleed severely. "Shit... If I only dodged that attack... My vision's getting blurry..." He chuckled weakly.
"I wanted to save you... but instead... I got us both hurt..." he brushed the hair off Lumine's face. "Lumine... y-you're the best thing that happened to my life... You're my best s-sparring partner... If only... I could live-"
"D-don't say that... W-we'll be alright... I just need to drag you a little... more... If it wasn't for me... You could've seen Teucer again..." she started to cry even more. Childe wouldn't be this severely injured if it wasn't for her. He turned against the Fatui to save her. If he didn't, he would've seen his brother Teucer again. His family.
"It's okay... At least, I get to spend... my final moments with you..." he leaned his face closer to her. He doesn't want to die nor her to die. She needs to reunite with her brother, Aether. But what can he do? He's at the verge of death. So does her.
At his final moments, he wants to let the woman he loved to know how he felt. He doesn't want this chance to slip. Not this time.
He pulled her in closer and their faces are just an inch away from each other. "Lumine... I have something to tell you..." he inhaled and gathered his last bit of confidence. "I love you... Lumine..."
The words he said made her heart sink. It hurts but she's slightly happy. She loved him after all this time despite being in different sides. She doesn't want to lose this chance to speak.
"I love you, too... Ajax..."
Childe got himself closer and felt his lips on hers. Her lips are soft and tender despite having her blood on it.
They looked at each other for one last time. They smiled at each other and embraced to keep them warm from the cold of death crawling onto them.
They took their final breath as the wind blows gently at the blooming Windwheel Asters.
