Present

The last days of summer vacation went by fast. It was nice to be able to get used to the new household and rules. Everyday I woke up and felt grateful and amazed that I could just do whatever I wanted. Well almost everything. I quickly found out that I wasn't allowed to leave the premises. I was free to roam the house and garden but everything beyond the gate was off limits.

It was a beautiful summer morning and I decided to go for a walk. I already explored the whole house and the garden and wanted to see more of the forest that we lived next to. I made my way outside and walked along the driveway to the gate which took five minutes. Their property was probably bigger than a football field. I reached the gate and tried to open it. The handle went down but the gate remained closed. I frowned and tried to push it open, thinking I had to put more weight against it. That also didn't work.

Suddenly I remembered that it opened automatically whenever Alexander or Sebastian drove in or out. They didn't even have to tick in a code or anything. So how did it open for them? Was there a sensor in their car or something? Can only their cars get through? I sighed and stepped backwards. The gate was to high to climb and had no places to hang onto. I looked to the sides, it was attached to high pillars and then went over to a big thick hedge. Okay maybe I could squeeze through those.

I walked a little along the hedge looking for a weak spot that was less bushy and thick, but it was all very well maintained and I could see no gaps. I grimaced and looked around me to see if anyone was around. No one was in sight and the trees and plants shielded me from the house. I stuck my arms inside the bush and winced when little branches nicked my skin. I pushed a little gap in the hedge with a lot of effort and was immediately met with a unpleasant sight. A chain link fence. How could I forget about that.

I let out an annoyed huff. I turned around and stomped back towards the house. Contemplating how to bring this up to Alexander. There was obviously a reason why their property was so closed off. To keep outsiders out, which was logical. They have a mansion of a house and probably a lot of valuable items that could get stolen. Anyhow why did no one tell me how to get out through the gate? I have been here for more than a week and after that night at the restaurant I haven't stepped a foot out of this place. Sebastian and Alexander were both busy with work and I only saw them at dinner if I saw them at all in the day. Noah and Lucian avoided me and kind of ignored my presence. But after a week of living with those two I found out that they liked to sleep in, come down stairs for a late breakfast or early lunch. Then they would work out and leave the house to go wherever. They would come back at dinner time and spent the evening playing video games or watch TV. Miles was kind of the same story, but a little more cultured since he liked to read and play piano sometimes.

So they did leave the property. Maybe they just forgot to inform me how to open the gate without a car. I probably need a remote or something. However I was a little afraid to ask Alexander not gonna lie. So I decided to ask Miles first instead. Luckily he was home and working out in the gym. Sadly he was there with Lucian. They were both sparring each other and it seemed like Lucian was egging Miles on to hit him.

"Is that all you got, little brother?" He taunted Miles.

They were both soaked in sweat and had thrown their shirts on the floor. I already knew that they were physically fit but without their shirts on I could see that they both didn't have an ounce of fat on their body. Both of them were sporting six packs and armed muscles. Lucian was a little buffer than Miles, but that was probably due to age difference.

Miles went in the offense and threw out his fist. Lucian managed to dodge and grab his arm while his other hand was trying to land one on Miles face. But Miles managed to step under Lucians arm that held on to his fist, which made Lucian let go and they both sprang back in the defense.
