Chapter 9 ~ Things are Getting Better

A month later, Matt got a phone call. It was the lady who took Ivy from him and Angie. She found the files, so Angie and Matt could go pick her up.

"Ang!"

"Yeah?"

"We get Ivy back! We get our baby back!"

"Really?!" Angie jumped into Matt's arms and he spun her around. As soon as he put her down, they ran out the door and got in the car. A half hour later, they made it to the building. They ran in and went up to the front desk.

"We're here for Ivy Rose Everett-Shade," Matt told the lady.

"I'll go get her for you."

"Thank you," Angie said. When the lady brought Ivy out, Angie and Matt quickly walked up to her. Angie took her from the lady's arms, held her close, and kissed her on the head. The three left, and went back home. When they got back, Matt took Ivy and told Angie to go lay down. She hadn't gotten a lot of sleep since Ivy was taken from them, so she was really tired. This also gave Matt a chance to spend some time with Ivy.

"We are never letting you go again," Matt said to Ivy. She looked at him and smiled. After a little bit, she was asleep in Matt's arms and Matt was asleep on the couch.

After Ivy was back with Matt and Angie, their life started getting back to the way it was... almost. Angie and Matt's relationship started to get more serious, and the two of them and the girls were starting to become more and more of a family. When Matt and Angie were at work, Don or Nora would watch Ivy. Matt still only had 50/50 split custody of Jules, which meant that Becca had her half of the time. They all loved their life.

Five months later, Matt and Angie went on a date that would change their lives forever. They were walking in the park when Matt got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.

"Oh my gosh," Angie said, she started crying.

"Angela Susan Everett, ever since I met you on our very first case, I knew there was something special about you. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"

Angie started nodding her head and put out her hand. "Yes! Of course I will!"

Four months later, Matt and Angie were married. The day after their wedding, the two officially adopted Ivy. Now she is Ivy Rose Shade.

A month later was Ivy's first birthday. Angie and Matt had her birthday party at the office because there was a lot of room there. Don, Nora, Becca, Jules, Liam, Maz, Zoe, and Shona were at the party. They all had a great time. After the party, they all pitched in to help clean up, because the office would actually have to be an office the next day.
