"Hey Becca." Matt greeted her.
"Hi Shadow, hey Angie! So, what's this I hear about a baby?"
"She was dropped off at the agency at some point while we were off working on a case," Angie explained, bouncing Ivy in her arms.
"Why would someone just leave a baby?"
"That's what we're trying to figure out. We asked Zoe to go down to the precinct and talk to Maz about possibly finding out some information," Matt added.
"Oh. Well, I have the crib and the car seat for ya."
"Thanks for looking. Hey, would you be able to help me bring in the bags that are in the car," Matt asked.
"Yeah, I can do that."
"Thanks." Matt and Becca headed outside to grab the bags.
"Okay, but did you see the way Angie was holding the baby? She looked like a real mom," Becca told Matt.
"Yeah, this is a side of Angie that I've never seen. She has a way with Ivy."
"Ivy? You gave her a name?"
"Yeah, and a middle name. We figured we couldn't just keep calling her "the baby" or "she" or "her". So we named her."
"She didn't have a name before?"
"If she did, the parents didn't mention it in the note." The two finished carrying in the bags and got to work putting the crib together. Angie watched them because she had never put one together before, and they had. They had it all put together by around 7:30.
"Thanks for the help Becca. Do you want to stay for dinner," Matt asked.
"I would, but I have an early morning tomorrow. Maybe next time, Shadow." Becca left, then Matt and Angie started getting Ivy ready for bed.
"Okay, so how do you give a baby a bath?" Angie never had to do this part when she babysat.
"Well, you know that little tub thing that we bought?"
"Yeah."
"We put Ivy in that." Matt and Angie finished giving Ivy her bath. Then, they took her into the guest room and put her in a clean diaper and onesie. She already drank her last bottle for the night, so all they had to do was put her in the crib. Once she was in there, Angie put a pacifier in Ivy's mouth and put a blanket over her. She looked so peaceful. Angie and Matt stood watching her for a minute.
"Today was crazy, Everett."
"You can say that again."
"Yeah, but we survived."
"Who's waking up the first time she cries?"
"Well, we're both gonna get woken up. But, I can be the first one to actually get up and take care of her. Then, it can be your turn."
"Sounds good to me."
"Are you hungry?"
"A little bit." It was about 9:00 by the time they were in the kitchen making dinner. It was nothing fancy, just sandwiches. "There better be coffee tomorrow."
"Trust me, there will be. We're going to need it. Haha, Jules is so lucky she's sleeping over at a friend's house tonight." The two finished their dinner and headed upstairs. They both headed to their rooms.
"Good night, Shade."
"Good night, Everett."
